Stella Stays Expands to Saudi Arabia, Opening the First Tech-Enabled Residential Hospitality Concept in the Region

UAE prop-tech start-up Stella Stays announces its expansion into the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, introducing the first tech-enabled residential hospitality concept in the region.

The highly anticipated Stella Stays Riyadh Olaya Tower will open its door in June 2022, as a significant milestone in the company’s impressive growth trajectory. Stella Stays Olaya Tower offers modern, fully equipped, tech-enabled apartments and hotel suites, a coworking space, and recreational and commercial amenities.

Stella Stays offers holidaymakers, business travelers, and residents a seamless hospitality experience, through leveraging ground-breaking technology and modern service. Guests and residents in Saudi Arabia will be able to use the Stella Stays app to navigate the entire journey – from booking and managing their stays, checking in, and controlling smart home systems, to ordering a wide range of guest services. Payment terms are flexible and can be made through various methods, including debit, credit cards, and crypto payments.

Riyadh and Jeddah are strategic locations for Stella Stays’ expansion with more than 1 trillion dollars of real estate and infrastructure developments underway. The Kingdom’s economy has fueled solid growth in residential construction with developers progressing a booming number of freehold apartment projects. Saudi Arabia also offers some of the most attractive set-up costs in the real estate sector in the region.

Commenting on the expansion, Mohammed Al Ghussein, Chairman of Stella Stays said: “We are extremely proud of our launch in Saudi Arabia, and we believe that our vision for the future of living and hospitality aligns perfectly with Vision 2030, in transforming the Kingdom into a world economic center with blossoming tourism and entertainment industries. The speed of national development is phenomenal, with around 730,000 homes to be added to Riyadh by 2030.

Stella Stays aims to disrupt the Kingdom’s hospitality sector landscape by partnering with real estate developers and property owners, such as Four Direction Development, to provide innovative residential hospitality-concept, with unmatched profitability potential.”

Four Direction Development has extensive experience in terms of investment returns since 2014 with several development projects around the Kingdom.

“We are excited to announce our agreement with Stella Stays in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia that will boost both the hospitality and travel industries. Stella Stays offers us, the property owner, hands-off management with real-time analytics that delivers significantly more income and less operational costs compared to traditional hotel models,” said Abdullah Al Majed, Co-Founder at Four Directions Development.

Stella Stays’ real estate portfolio growth strategy in Saudi Arabia is through master leases or profit-sharing agreements with property owners and developers. To create a global real estate pipeline, the company uses proprietary algorithms that identify, evaluate, and select the most desirable properties around the world, based on location, financial projection, and trends.

Commenting on the hospitality industry trends and its recent evolution in response to changes, Mohannad Zikra, CEO and Cofounder of Stella Stays, said: ‘‘The digital economy, COVID-19, and tech-savvy millennials are driving massive behavioral shifts related to how people live, travel and work. Business travel is also bouncing back and increasing significantly, requiring the flexibility for longer stays.

When Stella Stays began operations in 2019, the average length of stay was 3 nights per booking. Today, the average length of stays has increased to 28 nights per booking, with many repeat guests and permanent residents. Stella Stays continues to capture these opportunities by creating modern living spaces, futuristic technology, and a highly profitable business model. Our occupancy is now higher than the pre-pandemic level, reaching 100% around events such as EXPO 2020 Dubai and the Formula 1 Bahrain Grand Prix 2022.’’

With a vision to create the future of living and hospitality, Stella Stays is well recognized for its innovative and guest-centric approach, currently operating in the UAE, Bahrain, Canada, and now, Saudi Arabia. The company expects to expand rapidly into major cities in the MENA region and around the world in the next 12-18 months, with flagship projects in key markets.

“Stella Stays’ 4.9-stars rating across retail platforms is a testament to our effort to create the future of living and hospitality. And it’s just the beginning. The next step for Stella Stays is to leverage our secret sauce – ground-breaking technology and a highly profitable business model – to expand globally,” added Mohammed Al Ghussein, Chairman of Stella Stays.

A Drive for Change

Since becoming the first female Saudi racing driver, Reema has forged a reputation as a role model to many and will continue to make waves in the next chapter of her career as she seeks to spark further change.

In 2019, she made history by becoming the first Saudi Arabian woman to compete in an international race in her home country and alongside driving, will take her first steps into team management this year.

Theeba Motorsport will provide a platform and space for Saudis to learn about and participate in motorsport through a variety of engineering, mechanical and commercial internship and apprenticeship programs.

It is the team’s ambition and intention to one day compete at the prestigious Le Mans 24 Hours under a Saudi Arabian license.

An International Debut

Theeba Motorsport will take its first competitive steps in 2022 by contesting the International GT Open Championship – one of Europe’s highest tiers of GT3 racing.

Following a winning debut at Estoril with SPS Automotive, Reema will participate in all remaining races in the Mercedes-AMG GT3 EVO and will be partnered by long-time friend, driver coach, and renowned GT ace, Adam Christodoulou.

After its Estoril season-opener, the International GT Open will visit six other circuits in 2022, racing at Paul Ricard, Spa, the Hungaroring, Red Bull Ring, Monza, and Barcelona in 12 races from May October.

Holding an aspiration to inspire and educate, Theeba Motorsport is excited to take the first steps in a bold and transformative journey in top-flight global competition.

“As a team, we have a purpose that extends far beyond the race track and it is our ambition to improve Saudi Arabian representation and access to motorsport. While we want to create a place in racing for the Kingdom, we also want to create opportunities and will provide a space for Saudi people to get involved in a series of hands-on internship and apprenticeship programs. This will hopefully culminate in a majority Saudi team one day racing at the Le Mans 24 Hours.

“We will take our first steps in the International GT Open in 2022 – a series that I believe will offer a competitive platform to race in while also offering the chance to develop and learn. This is only the first step and a starting point in what will be a long journey to find Saudi Arabia’s place in the motor racing world and I’m extremely excited to see what the future holds.”

BMW Group & Nahda Academy Partner to Launch First-Ever ‘Mobile Junior Campus’ in Saudi Arabia

Arriving to the Middle East for the first time, BMW Group’s ‘Mobile Junior Campus’ saw its regional debut during the 2022 Saudi Arabian Grand Prix, hosting several workshops dedicated to young learners.

In association with Mohamed Yousuf Naghi Motors, the official importer of BMW Group in Saudi Arabia, over 700 children completed interactive workshops with the aim to inspire and educate them on the importance of sustainability, future of mobility and road safety.

The young participants gained hands-on experiences through tailored STEM learning activities developed in partnership with Nahda Academy, aimed at enhancing their creative and cognitive skills.

As part of BMW’s sustainability principles of RE:THINK, RE:DUCE, RE:USE and RE:CYCLE, children completed activities such as enduring challenging maneuvers with programmed robots, as well as blending healthy locally-sourced ingredients into smoothies on mechanical bikes to demonstrate alternative use of clean energy.

The importance of road safety was also showcased through a dedicated car crash test site with toy models, where licenses were issued to each learner in recognition of their hard work as a memorable collectable. Road networks (including road signs, zebra crossings and traffic signals) were set up within the premises, giving the children a feel for what to expect when driving a vehicle.

Along with the practical sessions, each participant completed theoretical classes focusing on the future of mobility and sustainability through educational content. Impressed with their learning, each child then pledged to protect the environment.

Dr. Hamid Haqparwar, Managing Director of BMW Group Middle East commented:I am proud to see the enthusiasm demonstrated by the young leaders of tomorrow at BMW Group Junior Campus in Jeddah. Introducing the very-first ‘Mobile Junior Campus’ in Saudi Arabia demonstrates our commitment towards fostering the skills of the upcoming generation, as we continue to look at new ways to play a role in shaping their future.”

Dr. Haqparwar also added: “Teaching the principles of sustainability and the importance of road safety through interactive, STEM-based learning is at the core of this initiative. For that, I would like to thank Mohamed Yousuf Naghi Motors and Nahda Academy for their support in bringing this innovative experience to the young learners in Jeddah.”

Ms. Fatima Nagi, Head Principal of Nahda Academy added, “The opportunity to partner with BMW Group and provide young learners with an incredible, interactive educational experience aboard the new ‘Mobile Junior Campus’ was a privilege to be a part of. To offer a comprehensive approach towards understanding the importance of road safety and sustainability through a series of interactive, STEM-based exercises in a mobile setting is something we as educators were thrilled to see.”

Saudi World Rally Championship Star Rakan Al Rashed Hoping More Drivers Across Middle East Can Follow in his Footsteps

The 32-year-old professional racer and successful businessman aims to inspire more people to the sport with his performances in WRC 2

Saudi professional rally driver Rakan Al Rashed hopes his participation at this year’s World Rally Championship 2 category can inspire the next generation of motorsport drivers from across the Kingdom and the Middle East region.

The 32-year-old, also a successful business professional and entrepreneur, will soon begin preparing for his second race of the year at next month’s round in Portugal after a crash in the last 200 metres denied him a finish in February’s Swedish Rally.

Fuelled by his passion for motorsport, Al Rashed, who currently has his own private team and hoping to gain support, is taking part for the third consecutive year in the second-highest category of this competition. He entered one race in 2020, competed twice last year and will also line up at the Italian Rally in Sardegna in early June.

While he aims to be as competitive in Portugal and Italy, Al Rashed hopes that more people from his native Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and across the Middle East region can follow in his footsteps one day.

He said: The WRC 2 competition is stronger than ever and my goal is to be in that top 15 places this year and build on it. Inspiring the next generation is very important for me. I have been lucky enough to participate in this sport at the highest level for many years and being shoulder-to-shoulder with some of the top drivers in the world is something that I have enjoyed.

“I have learned a lot which I want to pass on to the other up-and-coming drivers and help them avoid doing the same mistakes that I did at the beginning of my career.”

“I also feel it’s important to continue evolving the sport and while it’s vital to attract new people, a key element is to travel around the world and participate in regional and international competitions. There’s no shame by learning and using other people’s experience for your development. You just need to find the right people and give you the right advice,” said Al Rashed, who began his motorsport career at the 2015 “Middle East Rally Championship in Dubai.”

While the hosting of elite competitions such as the Formula One, Formula E and the Dakar Rally are helping raise the popularity of motorsport in the Kingdom, he also believes providing regular platforms for drivers to compete in local events are crucial for their development.

“There are some local championships that happen in Saudi Arabia but there are not enough and this is vital if you want to grow the sport and attract drivers to represent their country at the highest level. But I feel there will be plenty of opportunities as time progresses,” he said.

Besides his rally motorsport career, Al Rashed is also a co-founder and director of Access Bridge Ventures, a leading early stage venture capital fund and chairman of Kudu Corp, a leading restaurant chain in Saudi Arabia.

He said: “Sometimes it’s difficult because you need to switch gears between a business professional and being a racing driver. There are some overlaps. While it is difficult to drop everything and focus on motorsports alone because it’s a sector where you need a lot of financial support and funding, I do believe both business and motorsport go hand-in-hand which I am enjoying.”

Check how to watch the action live at

Mexico City hosts Round 3 of the ABB FIA Formula E World Championship this Saturday (12 February) with fans returning to fill the grandstands and 22 drivers set to go flat out on the Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez track after two rounds of fantastic racing at the Diriyah E-Prix in Saudi Arabia on 28-29 January.

A perfect mix of long, fast straights and a technical infield section that passes right through the legendary Foro Sol stadium – packed with 40,000 fans creating Mexico City’s distinctive vibrant atmosphere – the long-standing host circuit is known for producing intense races and high drama.

Fresh from a third-place finish in Round 2 and a strong opening weekend for his new team, ROKiT Venturi Racing’s Lucas di Grassi is one to watch in Mexico. The Brazilian has made two trips to the top step in Mexico City, most recently in Season 5 after his first win in front of the Foro Sol two seasons earlier. Teammate Edo Mortara is looking to continue his fine opening weekend form and stay at the top of the drivers’ standings after winning the second of two races in Diriyah, Saudi Arabia.

Mortara’s win followed reigning World Champion Nyck de Vries’ victory in Round 1, as Mercedes-EQ immediately got to grips with the all-new Duels qualifying format. De Vries and teammate Stoffel Vandoorne threw down the gauntlet with a formidable one-two finish in the opening race of the season.

The German manufacturer sits just a point behind its ‘customer’ outfit in the Teams’ World Championship ahead of the trip to Mexico, with Mercedes power currently the benchmark.

The competition is as close as it has ever been in the ABB FIA Formula E World Championship. Avalanche Andretti’s Jake Dennis and Envision Racing’s Robin Frijns have got their hands on silverware already this season and look to have the pace to mix it in the race for the top spot.

TAG Heuer Porsche Formula E Team and Jaguar TCS Racing also showed glimpses of pace, with fourth for Andre Lotterer and Sam Bird the best they could muster. There’s more to come from both, with Porsche’s race pace improving over the Diriyah weekend, and Jaguar having a strong record in Mexico City, with Mitch Evans winning the last time the series raced there.

The Round 1 and Round 2 races were part of a doubleheader in Diriyah and the only night races of the Formula E season. It was the fourth year of racing at the spectacular circuit which stands on the stunning UNESCO World Heritage Site as Season 8 of the World Championship kicked off under the lights of Diriyah, lit up by LEDs, making for a unique racing experience set in one of the world’s most stunning sporting locations.

With the fans returning to fill Foro Sol for Round 3, this season they will see new artwork that represents the modern, progressive, innovative values of Formula E’s race locations. The patterns draw on the rich cultural history of Mexico and combine this with modern-day artistic influences featuring a diverse tapestry of colors and patterns celebrating traditional techniques such as weaving, ceramics, and mosaics, in a modern way.

The ABB FIA Formula E World Championship returns to Mexico City on 12 February for Round 3 in the biggest-ever 16 race calendar at the Circuit Hermanos Rodriguez with the race starting at 04.00 pm local time, and 1.00 am on Saturday morning in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. Last night, the hosts and guests of the ABB FIA Formula E World Championship and Saudi Arabia came together at the Diriyah E-Prix Gala Dinner to raise vital funds for the Charitable Society of Autism Families (SAF).

Organized by Official Promoter CBX, the evening raised an incredible $478,000 for the worthy cause that Formula E has supported since 2019.

The star-studded event was held at the stunning Cultural Palace and kicked-off Formula E’s Season 8 opener, with round 1 of the double-header getting underway in Diriyah this evening as darkness descends. Guests enjoyed the best food the Kingdom has to offer, and the evening came to a crescendo with music from Wyclef Jean.

There were eight auction lots up from grabs including a Chelsea shirt signed by legend and special guest of the evening Didier Drogba who personally handed it over to the highest bidder who offered $92,500, a Tag Heuer Carrera Heuer 02 Tourbillon, Extreme E Explorers Lounge passes for its Uruguay X Prix, a Roland Iten X Rebellion Belt Buckle, an exquisite Mouawad necklace, a VIP experience in AlUla, two paintings by Fahad Al-Naymah plus a Salayel Arabian Studhorse. The bidding battle heated up with the highest price being offered for the Salayel Arabian Studhorse, all contributing to $478,000 being raised, which will support the 5,000 families with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) children across the Kingdom.

His Highness Prince Saud bin Abdul Aziz bin Farhan Al-Saud, SAF Chairman, said: “I can’t express my thanks enough to those that supported the gala dinner and SAF. The Formula E family has gone above and beyond, and the funds will allow us to support all those involved in autism, from professionals that deliver care to the children and families navigating their way through the disorder – our vision is to develop an integrated and well-developed platform for all autistic individuals in the Kingdom.”

Carlo Boutagy, CBX Founder, said: “It was a fantastic evening and I’m glad we raised significant funds for such a worthy cause. My thanks to all those who attended, donated auction items, and bid for incredible pieces and experiences. I would also like to express my gratitude to the Ministry of Sport, the Saudi Arabian Automobile and Motorcycle Federation, and Formula E for bringing this race to the Kingdom for a fourth consecutive year, and for also supporting our gala dinner. The money raised will make the world of difference to many families here in Saudi Arabia.”

Alejandro Agag, Founder, and Chairman of Formula E added:It is a pleasure to be in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia for the opening rounds of Season 8 of the ABB FIA Formula E World Championship with the support of the host city and CBX. The Charitable Society of Autism Families is a truly worthy cause and last night we were able to support their important work. At Formula E we race to create better futures. We are committed to building shared values amongst our communities and driving change together.

His Royal Highness Prince Khalid bin Sultan Al-Abdullah Al-Faisal, Chairman of the Saudi Automobile and Motorcycle Federation (SAMF) and Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Saudi Motorsport Co. (SMC) concluded: “Last night truly reflected our mission to increase opportunities to expand the role of motorsport in terms of inclusion to reach all segments of the population in Saudi Arabia. We are committed through the Kingdom’s 2030 Vision and the support of our leaders to improve the lives of all our citizens and build a better future for our nation’s youth.”

SAF has a longstanding relationship with CBX and the Diriyah E-Prix having received a donation of €220,000 when the partnership with Formula E was first conceived. The aid was channeled into projects to train families, enroll autistic children in sports programs and support the rehabilitation of individuals with ASD. Since its inception in 2009, the charity has invested more than €15 million in a variety of projects to fulfill its mission to improve autism care and research in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia by supporting and coordinating stakeholders through a research-based approach and emphasis on collaboration.
