Switzerland Tourism Authority Expands Presence in Saudi Arabia

The Switzerland Tourism Authority recently held a press conference in Jeddah, welcoming representatives from various media outlets and social media influencers. The event also saw the participation of His Excellency Mr. Abdul Khaliq bin Abdullah Al-Zahrani, Director General of the Ministry of Media Branch in Makkah Al-Mukarramah Region, alongside notable figures from the business community.


A significant announcement was made during the conference by Mr. Simon Bosshart, Head of Markets East and a Member of the Management of the Switzerland Tourism Authority. He introduced the official presence of the Switzerland Tourism Authority in Saudi Arabia, appointing Mr. Majed Al-Wadi as the Manager Saudi Arabia.

Mr. Bosshart underscored the importance of the Saudi market, acknowledging that Saudi Arabia leads the Arabian Gulf region in terms of travel to Switzerland. He attributed this growth to the Vision 2030 initiative, especially in the hospitality, tourism, and entertainment sectors, which have made remarkable progress. As a result, the Switzerland Tourism Authority aims to establish a stronger foothold in the Saudi market.

Mr. Livio Goetz, Regional Director for the Arabian Gulf Region, emphasized the need to introduce Swiss tourist destinations to Saudi society. The event provided an opportunity for partners of the Switzerland Tourism Authority to highlight attractive tourist areas and the latest developments. The picturesque areas discussed included Geneva, Lucerne, Zurich, Crans-Montana, Interlaken, Ticino, and Grabünden.

In his closing remarks, Mr. Al-Wadi expressed his enthusiasm for strengthening tourism ties between the two countries and attracting more Saudi tourists to experience the beauty of Switzerland and its renowned hospitality. This initiative marks an exciting new chapter in the world of international tourism.
