The Diriyah Gate Development Authority (DGDA) and its different partners have launched the second edition of the summer youth program, “Diriyah Horizons.”
This edition features 17 workshops on arts, culture, leadership, technology, heritage, and creative production. The program aims to boost knowledge, instill values, and develop skills for young people aged 9 to 17.
Running until August 15, 2024, the program is a team effort involving six organizations: The Heritage Authority, King Abdulaziz Foundation for Research and Archives (Darah), Saudi Arabian Society for Culture and Arts, King Abdulaziz Center for Cultural Communication, Tuwaiq Academy, and the Saudi Arabian Archery Federation. It takes place from Sunday to Thursday (6:00 pm to 10:00 pm) and offers activities to help youth become community ambassadors. The goal is to instill pride in Diriyah’s traditions, boost cultural and historical awareness, encourage innovation and creativity, develop practical problem-solving skills, and strengthen leadership. Participants will gain valuable experience, new skills in their fields, and improve their communication, decision-making, and teamwork abilities.
The second edition of the Diriyah Horizons initiative includes six creative tracks inspired by Diriyah’s values and heritage. The Arts track has workshops on natural dye making, Arabian horse sculpting, and calligraphy. The Creative Production track covers photography, filmmaking, and theater arts. The Culture track focuses on Majlis etiquette, Saudi hospitality, and performing arts like Al Ardah and As Samri. The Leadership track offers workshops on volunteering, public speaking, and recycling. Other workshops include 3D design and manufacturing, Metaverse techniques, archery, archaeological excavation, and traditional adobe construction in the heritage track.
With this initiative, DGDA showcases the importance of corporate social responsibility by offering a range of engaging activities. These activities help individuals gain valuable knowledge and improve their skills, positively influencing their personal growth. As a result, participants develop a mindset that stays with them, helping them become valuable members of society.
