Careem reinforces commitment to the Saudi technology sector with new Jeddah office

Mudassir Sheikha, CEO and co-founder of Careem, and Abdulla Elyas, Careem’s Chairman of Saudi Arabia, inaugurated the opening of Careem’s new office in Jeddah in the presence of senior government officials and partners.

This follows the opening of Careem’s revamped office in Riyadh in October of this year, solidifying Careem’s commitment to fast-track the growth of the technology industry across the Kingdom.

Abdulla Elyas, Careem’s Chairman of Saudi Arabia, commented, “We are thrilled to establish a stronger presence in Jeddah, a key city in our largest market in the region. Careem’s services have enabled customers in Saudi to move by car and from city to city and order food through Saudi’s first on-demand healthy food delivery service, all in one tap through the Everything App.”

“Saudi Arabia has made significant strides in fostering a thriving startup ecosystem by investing in entrepreneurial infrastructure. This has spurred the growth of more homegrown technology companies, thereby creating jobs and attracting high-skilled talent into the kingdom,” Abdulla added. “We hope to help Saudi Arabia unlock its full potential as a global tech hub by expanding Careem’s presence with more digital services and earning opportunities across the Kingdom.”

The inauguration ceremony for the Jeddah office was attended by esteemed guests, including senior Saudi Government officials.

Careem launched ride-hailing services in Saudi Arabia in 2013, commencing operations in Riyadh, Jeddah, Dammam, Dhahran, and Khobar before expanding to reach 26 cities across the Kingdom. The Everything App now enables over 10 million customers across KSA to move around by car and by bike and order food. More than 70,000 Saudi nationals use the Careem app as a flexible source of income on a monthly basis.
