Winter is amongst us! What a gorgeously short season, which we just can’t get enough of yet somehow are always unprepared for it.
It’s pretty common for most of us to catch the, well, common-cold when ‘tis season is amongst us, and we find hospitals and crowded places a hub for all sorts of virus.
Although doctors prescribe antibiotics for almost every illness under the sun, it’s recommended to steer away from them as much as possible. Antibiotics are losing their effectiveness and today, modern medicine is faced with the challenge of antibiotics resistance, thanks to its overuse.
Back in the 1930s, Alexander Fleming (the guy who basically lead to the production of antibiotics) himself, warned the world against using antibiotics freely otherwise it could lead to problems. He noted in his experimentation clear evidence of bacteria’s ability to quickly change its structure to avoid the killing effects of the antibiotics.
So, in short, the ideal way to combat treacherous hours of a red runny nose, soar throat and the horrific burning/freezing episode, is to make sure you’re first living a healthy life.
To activate the healing power your body possesses requires taking good care of yourself. Remember, bacteria can take over only when the environment allows it.
We recommend that you:
- Get quality sleep (8 hours)
- Exercise frequently
- Eat healthy whole foods and avoid sugar
- Practice relaxation, such as yoga
Despite your efforts, if you’re still feeling like your coming down with something try and consume foods that will help alkalize your system to fight out our generally acidic diet.
A body that’s more alkaline may be more effective at fighting off viruses that cause colds.
One of the best ways to achieve this is, *drumroll please*, my dear friend Apple Cider Vinegar.
- 1 tbsp Apple cider vinegar
- 1 tbsp honey
- 1 cup of room temperature water
Chug that cup of magical elixir and instantaneously feel yourself get better. Repeat every time your body is surrendering to that weak, pile of blankets
You can also use it to get rid of tonsillitis, sinus and throat infections.
