You can do it! Just follow these tips.

So you’ve decided you want to join a group workout class instead of your normal routines, but you are a bit nervous on how the class will be and whether or not you would be able to catch up with the rest? Well there’s nothing to be nervous about, we’ve all been there. Here are some tips to help you ease through your first couple of classes.

Research

First of all take some time to research a bit about the class. For example, the class is Boot Camp. Find out the fitness level required to enter the class, ask the gym/instructor if it’s a private training center, ask for more info on what types of boot camps they are running, will it include weights, is it outdoors, etc. Knowing what you are getting yourself into will help you feel more at ease.

Go Early

Be there before the scheduled time. This will give you time to speak to the instructor and introduce yourself; also you can mention any difficulties or injuries you have or ask them any questions. Going early can also give you a chance to mingle and ask other members their thoughts of the class.

Don’t Compare Yourself to Others!

A general rule of advice would be to not compare yourself to anyone else. If you feel that you have overworked yourself or are really tired, do not look at the person next to you and try to compete. If you need a break then give yourself a break, its ok you are just getting started.

Most importantly don’t quit. Force yourself to keep going and be committed and you will start seeing results with time.
