Saudi Fund for Development Opens School in Tajikistan

The Saudi Fund for Development (SFD), led by its CEO H.E. Sultan Al-Marshad, has officially inaugurated the Shahrinav School in Tajikistan.

This inauguration is part of the fourth phase of the “Constructing and Equipping of Secondary Schools” project in Tajikistan, for which the SFD contributed $35 million USD. The project is set to benefit 25,000 students in Tajikistan.

The ceremony was attended by various dignitaries, including H.E. Abdullzoda Ziyodullo, Deputy Minister of Education and Science of the Republic of Tajikistan, H.E. Akramzoda Mahmadyusuf, Representative of the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan, H.E. Waleed Alreshiadan, Saudi Ambassador to Tajikistan, Valizoda Abduqodir, Chairman of Shahrinav district, and Vohidzoda Umeda, Director of PIU, along with officials from both countries.

This newly inaugurated school comprises 36 classrooms and will serve 620 students. It’s one of 34 schools built in the fourth phase of the project. Beyond meeting educational needs, this initiative aligns with UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 4 (Quality Education) and SDG 8 (Decent Work and Economic Growth).

H.E. Abdullzoda Ziyodullo, Deputy Minister of Education and Science of Tajikistan, expressed gratitude to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the SFD for their significant support in the education sector. He emphasized the critical role of education in Tajikistan’s development plans and socio-economic growth.

H.E. Sultan Al-Marshad, CEO of the SFD, highlighted the fund’s commitment to education and its role in empowering students. He emphasized that this school’s inauguration is part of a broader educational project aimed at enhancing Tajikistan’s educational landscape.

The inauguration of the Shahrinav School represents an ongoing effort by the SFD to support Tajikistan’s education sector. The SFD has financed four development projects in education, constructing and equipping 57 secondary schools across four phases, with a total funding of $75 million USD. In total, the SFD has financed 12 development projects in Tajikistan across various key sectors, amounting to over $193 million USD.
