Saudi Arabia achieved a remarkable victory in the Grand Prix class at the International Show Jumping Tour (IST) 2024, competing against 16 European nations. The event, organized by “Al-Mutabagani,” was praised for its outstanding management and thorough execution.
His Highness Prince Abdullah bin Fahad, President of the Saudi Equestrian Federation, awarded the Grand Prix winners in a ceremony celebrated worldwide for excellent organization. The riders were honored for their exceptional performances, which also showcased Saudi Arabia’s excellence in hosting global equestrian events.
The finale of Jeddah’s show jumping competition included remarkable performance from Saudi rider Meshari Al-Harbi, earning him the Grand Prix award, which his Highness Prince Abdullah bin Fahd bin Abdullah, along with rider Arwa Al-Mutabagani, President of the event’s organizing committee, presented the awards. The three-week event featured over 150 riders from 16 countries, showcasing top talents from around the world.
His Highness Prince Abdullah bin Fahd bin Abdullah also commended the organization of the international tournament, emphasizing the high standards and significant participation from various countries. He expressed gratitude to the “Al-Mutabagani” Sports Center and affirmed Saudi Arabia’s status in hosting world-class events.
Arwa Al-Mutabagani, head of the organizing committee and founder of Trio Sporting, expressed her pride in the the event and the success achieved by the tour. The event has become a focal point for the world, with well thought out organization, entertainment events, and well-prepared competition grounds meeting the highest international standards.
The success of the International Show Jumping Tour aligns well with Saudi Arabia’s vision 2030 to focus more on the sports sector, particularly equestrianism. The leadership of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, and His Highness, Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, has played a major role in highlighting the growth of equestrian sports.
Al-Mutabagani extended gratitude to all contributors to the tour’s triumph, acknowledging the Ministry of Sports, the International and Saudi Equestrian Federations, and sponsors for their support. Additional well-known figures such as, Teddy Zebitz of Saudi Airlines Cargo, were honored for their encouragement of the sport and riders.
Saudi riders definitely made a lasting impact, notably Meshari Al-Harbi winning the Grand Prix, within the Kingdom’s sports scene. Waleed Al-Ghamdi set a new record in the Jeddah National Hospital Class, and Mohammad Ashgar regained the title of Dean of Ambassadors in their class.
Towards the end of the event, Dr. Hamed bin Hamed Al-Mutabagani, Chairman of Dr. Hamed Al-Mutabagani Group, honored His Highness Prince Abdullah bin Fahd bin Abdullah with a commemorative shield for his continuous support, guiding equestrian sports in the Kingdom.
Founded in 1990, Trio Sporting Club, under Al-Mutabagani’s leadership, has been one the main institutions in the Kingdom’s equestrian scene. Arwa Al-Mutabagani’s significant contributions have brought in a new generation of riders, leading to numerous local and international achievements, including her daughter, Dalma Malhas, the first Saudi female equestrian Olympian and medalist in 2010 in Singapore. The club continues to teach and nurture riders with global experiences and knowledge-sharing from international experts, providing them with the best training and experiences.
