The Saudi Sports for All Federation (SFA) has revealed that the upcoming third Riyadh Marathon, scheduled for February 10 and supported by the Ministry of Sport, will commence and conclude at the recently constructed Kingdom Arena.
The Riyadh Marathon, is known to be as a highly anticipated sporting event in the country, attracting 15,000 runners from 128 nationalities in 2023. Notably, 61.6% of participants were Saudi citizens. The marathon also earned certification as a World Athletics Label Road Race in 2023.
The full marathon (42.2km), half marathon (21.1km), 10k for participants aged 17 and over, and a beginner-friendly 4k run will all start and finish at Imam Saud bin Faisal Road, opposite Kingdom Arena. To enhance the overall experience, a ‘Marathon Village’ will take place at Kingdom Arena Square on February 9-10, featuring food and beverage stands, entertainment, and various additional fitness activities.
The 21.1k route, designed for half marathon and marathon participants, will include major landmarks in Riyadh, such as Diriyah and Wadi Hanifa, with the 42.2km route covering this path twice. Meanwhile, the 10k route will explore the northern part of the city, passing through Wonder Garden and Boulevard World. The 4k run will bridge the gap between the 10k and 21.1k courses.
Shaima Saleh Al-Husseini, SFA Managing Director, expressed enthusiasm, stating, “We are pleased to welcome back the Riyadh Marathon, incorporating the city’s newest sporting venue, the Kingdom Arena. We expect this year’s event to be the biggest and best yet, helping us to fulfill our goal to get more of the Kingdom’s population engaged in physical activity.”
For those interested in participating, registration is available on the Riyadh Marathon website, as well as on the SFA’s website and app.
