1. What are your first impressions of the Middle Eastern makeup scene?

I can definitely identify with the Middle Eastern makeup scene, since from a very early start I have always been a fan of a smokey eye, a strong brow and a bold lip. It’s so refreshing seeing a community of beauty-lovers who appreciate full coverage as much as I do.

2. Coming from a tattooist background, what difficulties did you find in the makeup industry? 

Coming from an artist background—whether it be tattooing, drawing, or painting—I find that it really does translate into how I personally do my own makeup and how I approach creating new products. Understanding art fundamentals truly lends itself to makeup application, and for that I am grateful. So in all honesty, my background does not present itself to be a challenge in any way.

3. How do you make your products stand out from other brands?

I think Kat Von D Beauty stands out from other brands in many ways. Of course, our patented formulas are game changers, but I think the overall, unapologetic sentiment of the brand really sets us apart. There are so many special and unique shades in every collection that really “think outside the box.” Who wants to play with the same old makeup anyway?

4. What’s your favorite product from your latest collection?

Tattoo Liner is definitely my go-to eyeliner — not one day goes by where I don’t wear it!
