The Land of Heroes, the world’s largest gaming and esports festival, is set to reveal its official music anthem, ‘GG Geena,’ in collaboration with Spotify.
The much-anticipated track made its debut on July 7 during the opening ceremony at Boulevard Riyadh City. ‘GG Geena’ is a collaborative effort between Mishaal Tamer, a Saudi Arabian artist and gaming enthusiast, and Llunr, a Palestinian Jordanian musician who has achieved success on multiple Spotify Viral 50 charts worldwide. Although they had never met before, the duo traveled to EMPIRE’s studios in San Francisco to create the anthem, which tells a story inspired by the resilience of gamers in overcoming challenges, whether they compete against each other or join forces against formidable bosses.
Described by the artists as “natural and free-flowing,” the Gamers8 anthem not only represents the spirit of Saudi Arabian gaming and esports but also highlights the power of music and gaming in bringing people together. This theme will be further emphasized as ‘GG Geena’ takes center stage at Boulevard Riyadh City this summer during Gamers8: The Land of Heroes, an event organized by the Saudi Esports Federation.
Ahmed Albishri, Deputy CEO at the Saudi Esports Federation, expressed gratitude to Mishaal Tamer and Llunr for their remarkable creation, stating that the anthem would resonate with gamers worldwide. He also extended thanks to Spotify, the main partner of Gamers8, for their support and continued backing of the event. Having previously partnered with Gamers8, the Saudi Esports Federation is delighted to strengthen its relationship with the festival.
‘GG Geena’ bursts into life with a grand sound, incorporating epic drums and claps arranged in a pattern familiar to Saudi ears, influenced by ‘shailat.’ The track features various Arabic musical elements, including the oud and percussion. The anthemic introduction is made even more captivating by merging the popular gaming phrase “GG” with the victorious spirit of champions, paying homage to the unconditional camaraderie shared among gamers. A special live performance of ‘GG Geena’ by Mishaal Tamer and Llunr is scheduled during Gamers8: The Land of Heroes.

In addition to the music anthem, Spotify will serve as the official audio partner for Gamers8: The Land of Heroes. The popular audio streaming subscription service will host a Podcast Camp (Pod Camp) throughout the eight-week season and provide regular updates on the official Gamers8 playlist. Spotify will also have two activation booths at Boulevard Riyadh City and promote Gamers8 on its platform and social media channels.
Nicole Aoun, Marketing Partnerships MENA at Spotify, expressed excitement about being the main partner for Gamers8’s second edition. Aoun emphasized Spotify’s commitment to delivering an unforgettable experience to the Saudi and global gaming community. She also highlighted their focus on celebrating the creative talents and cultural contributions of Saudi Arabia. As a special tribute, Mishaal Tamer and Llunr will be honored with a billboard display in New York City’s Times Square.
Both Llunr and Mishaal Tamer expressed their enthusiasm for the anthem and the collaboration. Llunr described the project as a showcase of the incredible sonic talent emerging from the West Asia/North African region. He praised the record for beautifully embodying diversity, uniting artists from different backgrounds. Mishaal Tamer shared his perspective on gaming as an art form that brings people together, expressing gratitude for the opportunity to merge his Saudi culture with his love for gaming through ‘GG Geena.’
Gamers8: The Land of Heroes spans eight weeks and features elite gaming tournaments alongside live concerts by renowned global, regional, and local artists.
