In partnership with the Consulate General of France in Jeddah, the French Embassy in Saudi Arabia, and Alliance Française, the Red Sea Film Foundation has extended the application deadline for the fourth edition of the 48-Hour Film Challenge.
Aspiring filmmakers in Saudi Arabia can now submit their entries until July 7, 2024. This extension aims to support and develop local filmmaking talent.
The challenge welcomes aspiring filmmakers in Saudi Arabia, including both Saudis and residents aged 18-25. Over two days, participants will engage in intensive online technical workshops and receive mentorship. Sessions include a filmmaking workshop led by Saudi director Faris Godus, a production workshop with Jordanian producer and script consultant Deema Azar, and a scriptwriting and editing workshop with Jordanian filmmaker Amjad Alrasheed.
After the workshops, teams will take on an exciting 48-hour challenge to create a film from concept to final edit. Additionally, the French Consulate will provide 15 shortlisted team members with two days of professional workshops in Jeddah and Riyadh, featuring experts from France and Saudi Arabia. These workshops will include short film screenings and industry discussions.
A jury of acclaimed filmmakers and industry professionals will select two winners from the entries. Their aim is to recognize and celebrate one of a kind cinematic achievements showcased during the 48-Hour Film Challenge, promoting and supporting filmmaking in Saudi Arabia and the wider region.
The two winning team leaders will receive a residency at the 2025 International Short Films Festival in Clermont-Ferrand, France, organized by the French Consulate in Jeddah.
The winning films will also be shown in the next edition of the Red Sea IFF in December 2024.
Filmmakers eager to take part in this creative journey can form teams of up to five members and express their reasons for participation. Applications are accepted until July 7, 2024, with submission guidelines available on the official event website. Don’t miss out on the chance to turn a brief two days into a unique short film experience.
