The founders of the publishing house Dawar Shams, Hind Altharwa, and Dr. Wafa AlSubayel recognized the potential of the Arabic language to connect Saudi culture and heritage with the world. They established Dawar Shams, a publishing house to bridge a gap in the children’s book market for materials that reflect Saudi culture and heritage. Through their first bilingual book, “Alef Ba Saudi Arabia,” their mission is to make Arabic learning easily accessible, engaging, and culturally educational for both children and adults.
How cultural elements are incorporated in the book is that it connects children to national values and Saudi heritage from a young age through the help of the Arabic alphabet.

Hind and Dr. Wafa mentioned the unique feature of Alef Ba Saudi Arabia: “its bilingual approach, enriching the Arabic text with English. “The primary focus is children, catering to toddlers, young children, and teenagers. They aim to reach native and non-Arabic speakers interested in learning about Saudi culture.” What sets Alef Ba Saudi Arabia apart from traditional language-learning resources is its bilingual approach; it aims to make the material accessible and engaging for non-Arabic readers. The vision of Dawar Shams is the promotion of Saudi national identity through the creation of unique content, which can be seen through their first publication, Alef Ba Saudi Arabia.
