Arthur Hoffner: Defying Gravity With His Intricate Structure

The winner of the People’s Choice Award at the 2017 Villa Noailles Design Parade, Arthur Hoffner brought his fascinating larger than life piece to the [21,39] Jeddah Arts event.

His extraordinary work consists of a series of vases combining gilded brass spheres, aluminum tubes, and blocks of marble put together in a precarious structure that appears to defy the laws of gravity. Suffused with balance and suspended motion, the installation echoes the Perlée collection from the Maison.

Aurther says that there is a conspicuous kinship relationship between his work and the imaginative vision conveyed by this collection, its colors, and composition. The interplay of moving shapes and joyful hues resonates with his own experiments.

This sculpture offering a broader vision of his work was also on display at the newly opened Van Cleef & Arpels boutique at Al Khayyat Centre in Jeddah.

Always being fascinated by consummate craftsmanship; representing flair, meticulous artistry and
passion for well-designed objects, Aurther found all these
qualities in Van Cleef & Arpels.
