Al Nassr faced Moroccan side Raja Casablanca on Sunday August 6, 2023 in a quarter final clash of the Arabs Clubs Champions Cup.
The game ended 3-1 for Al Nassr after an impressive display by Al Nassr players throughout both halves. Al Nassr started their game with their A team playing all of their new signings including the most recent one, Sadio Mane.
Ronaldo opened the scoring with a beautifully taken power shot that found the back of the net after a great pass by Talisca in the box. The goalkeeper had no chance in saving it and we saw a beautiful camaraderie between Mane and Ronaldo as they both hit the famous Sui celebration.
The second goal came from Al Nassr Saudi player Al Ghannam after a great control of the ball right outside the box leaving the Al Raja player behind. Al Ghannam took the shot in a half volley style putting it in the left far post leaving no chance for the goalkeeper to save it.
Before the end of the first half, Al Nassr attacked from the left side with new signing Alex Telles running through the wing and crossing the ball in the box where he found the other new signing Fofana where he hit it in the back of the net with a powerful header above the Al Raja defenders.
In the minute 40, Al Raja pushed back with a goal after a counter attack went wrong for Al Nassr. The goal came from a defensive mistake by the Al Nassr player Abdullah Madu leading to an own goal by the Saudi defender.
The game ended 3-1 for Al Nassr guaranteeing their move to the semis where they will be facing Iraqi side Al0-Shorta SC on Wednesday August 9th.
Personal notes:
Al Nassr dominated the full 90 minutes giving Al Raja a very difficult game. The new signings in Al Nassr showed great potential and have quickly adapted to the Saudi league. One of the most impressive players in this game was Brozovic controlling the midfield perfectly and dictating the pace of the game, Talisca showing his magic on the feet with impressive dribbles and crucial runs, and finally, the target man Ronaldo playing his role perfectly and making space for himself to be in positions to threaten the goal.
Personal MOTM:
Marcelo Brozovic
He was in total control throughout the game and dictated the pace of the game perfectly. It was the best performance for the position in this game.
