The Future of Hospitality in Saudi Tourism

The Future of Hospitality in Saudi Tourism

Recently, Saudi Arabia has experienced a dramatic surge in its tourism sector, pushed by Vision 2030’s innovative strategies. This vision includes a range of initiatives aimed at economic diversification, where tourism plays a major role. Rotana Hotels, aligning with this vision, is actively working towards shaping the future of hospitality within the Kingdom, driving innovation and making significant contributions to the Kingdom’s booming tourism industry.

A Visionary Blueprint

Vision 2030 is at the core of Saudi Arabia’s tourism growth, with a thorough aim to reduce the Kingdom’s reliance on oil, boost the economy, and improve public service sectors like healthcare, education, and tourism. The goal is to attract 100 million visitors annually by 2030, showcasing the Kingdom’s commitment to global diversity.

Strategic Development

The latest updates regarding the Saudi market reveal information that is necessary to learning more about the shifting tides. The Kingdom’s move to diversify its tourism and other sectors indicates a strategic shift towards long-term economic sustainability.

Furthermore, the significant 42.8% increase in tourist spending observed in 2023 reflects the booming tourism industry, positioning Rotana to harness this upward trend. Statistics and numbers reveal a significant surge in both tourist expenditures and visitor numbers, establishing the kingdom as an increasingly popular tourist destination. In 2023, non-oil sectors in Saudi Arabia experienced major growth of 4.4%, with government activities increasing by 2.1% and social and personal services showing the highest growth rate at 10.8%. This data showcases an economy that is diversifying and broadening in many  ways.

Cultural Richness and Heritage

The diverse cultural, historical, and scenic wonders of Saudi Arabia create an exceptional allure for travelers. From the ancient marvels of Al-Ula to the vibrant markets of Jeddah and the beautiful landscapes of Asir, the Kingdom consists of various experiences. At Rotana, we are dedicated to bringing these rich cultural and natural treasures together, into our hospitality, ensuring our guests some of the best and unforgettable experiences throughout their stay within the Kingdom.

Our recent soft opening of Dar Rayhaan by Rotana in Al Khobar reflects our strategic approach to the expanding cultural landscape. We aim to enhance the visitor and local experience while exploring the country’s offerings as Saudi Arabia grows as a tourist destination.

At present, Rotana runs 76 hotels, catering to over six million guests each year. This includes 19,761 rooms spread across six unique brands. In Saudi Arabia alone, Rotana is in charge of and manages nine hotels, consisting of 2,316 rooms. Over the next five years, we anticipate doubling this figure, demonstrating our strong presence in the country.

This major growth initiative includes the launch of four new Edge by Rotana establishments and a Rayhaan by Rotana in Riyadh. In addition, the highly anticipated opening of Al Manakha Rotana in Madinah will take into consideration the rising demand for premium accommodation within the city. Furthermore, an Edge by Rotana in Al Baha will be opening, showcasing Rotana’s commitment to delivering exceptional hospitality experiences across the many regions of Saudi Arabia.

After completing these projects, Rotana’s presence in Saudi Arabia will boast 4,400 keys across 16 properties. This expansion reflects Rotana’s strategic vision and its role in supporting Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030, which aims to diversify the economy and develop the tourism and hospitality sectors.

Conclusion

Looking ahead, the growth in Saudi Arabia’s tourism and non-oil industries isn’t just a short-term trend; it marks the start of a new era. Rotana is ready and eager to lead this change in hospitality, playing a part in the Kingdom’s economy and diverse cultural landscape.
