Understanding the appropriate etiquette for taking pictures and videos at holy sites is essential. Here are some guidelines to ensure respectful and considerate behavior while capturing your memories:
Seek permission: Holding a professional camera without permission from “The General Presidency for the Affairs of the Grand Mosque and the Prophet’s Mosque” is strictly prohibited.
Avoid disturbing worshippers: Don’t step over people in the middle of their prayers, and maintain a respectful distance from those engaged in prayer.
Be mindful of your surroundings: Don’t pose or stand on passages, ensuring pathways remain clear for all visitors and avoid blocking access to important sites or obstructing the movement of pilgrims.
Respect sacred spaces: Avoid using flash photography in areas where it may be disruptive, and follow the rules set by authorities.
The Makkah Route Initiative
A transport service provided by the Ministry of Interior manages tasks like issuing electronic visas, gathering biometric information, and carrying out health checks from the pilgrims’ home countries to ensure a smooth journey for them and streamline the travel process.
