Artist Samera Ismail on her Art Journey

Artist Samera Ismail on her Art Journey

When did you get into art and why?

I got into Art in 1997, where I took 3 month courses and joined art workshops every 6 months for years. I made it my mission to learn what I love and paint whenever I can.

For me, Art is a tool to not only create, but to express my inner soul, my feelings and my surroundings for people to read and reflect.

Is there an answer to the question 'what is Art?' If yes, what is it?

Yes, Art refers to anything that is made by someone ; however the meaning of art continues to be debated.

How would you describe the art scene in Sharqiya?

It is growing; we have yearly art exhibitions and events; done and organized by the private sector and artists as group shows.

What is the one problem with it?

The Art scene is not financially sustained

One thing that makes it stands out?

When the Art exhibition/event has a charity cause affiliated with it; Art really shine.

What makes Azman different?

It’s a great place to create and find your artistic self by giving you the freedom to shine as an artist in any field you are in .

Your favorite artist in Sharqiya?

The Saudi artist Helen Al-Ammari, every time you see her work she surprises you; she’s the owner of the Arabian Collection gallery.

About the Artist:
Samera Ismail has an accredited Art degree of four years from City and Guilds Art Institute in London and more than ten art certificates in different fields.
