Ahh, finally, a franchise that isn’t focused on making Riyadh the obesity capital of the region.

When I first got whiff of Freshii, I was like, “healthy fastfood?” hmm.

Freshii is a Canadian franchise whose claim to fame is serving up salads, burritos, wraps and bowls that’s actually good for you. Their slogan is Eat. Energize. After testing out the menu, I’m going with Guiltless Gorging instead. Why? Read on.

MAMMOTH burritos. I kid you not, the burrito I ordered was humongous, I couldn’t eat it in one go and had it for breakfast this morning. I ordered the tex mex, which had brown rice, black beans, corn, avocado, aged cheddar, pico de gallo for SR 25. You can choose to add some protein to your green meal for a price. They had tuna, falafel, chicken, steak and shrimps. Went for the steak which fit perfectly with my burrito— tasted like shredded bbq roast beef. Loved it.

Ahh, the salads, where do I begin? We ordered the metaboost, mainly out of excitement that there’s kale and edamame in its ingredients. And yes, it did not disappoint. The bowl serving was big enough to feed two people. If there’s one thing I didn’t like is that the mango wasn’t peeled properly. For the rice bowls, the Pangoa had me full all day, it’s a lot like the tex mex burrito sans the tortilla.

We weren’t much of a fan when it came to the Asian options on the menu. The thai inspired burrito we ate with added shrimp was okay but not crave-worthy, perhaps a bit more flavor would help it out?

Nevertheless, Freshii is off to a great introduction and definitely a place we’ll be hitting up often and not feel guilty about it.
