It’s no doubt that avocado toast has been trending for quite a while now and they are an excellent healthy, quick and filling meal to prepare.

Be it breakfast, lunch, snack or even for dinner. It works any time of day, and that’s why its personally my favourite. Avocados are a great source of omega-three fatty acids which are the healthy fats that are responsible for lowering cholesterol, improving skin texture, healing digestive issues, and much more!

So if you are bored with your typical avocado toast, here are three different ways that you can jazz it up.

10304Classic with a twist toast

This is as close to the classic toast as it gets, but by adding a few extra toppings, it takes it to another level. Nutritional yeast is an excellent sub for cheese and provides a great source of vitamin b12 and fibre, but don’t worry; you can always omit it and add regular cheese if you prefer.

1 avocado
2 slices of sourdough toast
½ tsp of smoked paprika
Juice of half a lemon
1 ripe tomato
1 tsp of nutritional yeast
Pinch of cracked salt

Place the toast into a toaster, meanwhile, mash the avocado, add the juice of the lemon and paprika and once the toast is ready to top the avocado mash on it. Chop the tomatoes and place it on top of the toast and sprinkle some nutritional yeast and cracked salt.

The next one is what I call the “high protein toast”  as it is perfect if you want to up your protein and want something more filling. This toast is guaranteed to keep you fuller for longer because of the protein found in the salmon and eggs paired together with a healthy fat source that comes from the avocado.

Smoked salmon
2 eggs
Juice of half a lemon
2 slices of sourdough toast
½ tsp of chilli flakes
1 tsp of ghee or your oil of preference

Place the toast into a toaster meanwhile mash up the avocado, squeeze in the juice of the lemon and add some chilli flakes. Once the toast is made, scoop the mixture onto the toast and add the salmon. Grab a frying pan and add some ghee to it and crack the eggs but make sure there is space in between so that you can take them out individually or simply cook one at a time. Cook as desired (I recommend slightly runny), once done, place the egg on the toast and garnish with some more chilli flakes on the egg.

This next toast is perfect for those who prefer a sweeter breakfast/snack, now before you judge the ingredients you have to try it. I know many who were a bit sceptical, but once they have tried it, they never turned back.

2 slices of sourdough toast
1 tsp of ghee or Kerry gold butter
1 avocado
Chilli flakes
½ tsp Sea salt
1 tsp of balsamic vinegar
1 tbsp of manuka honey or maple syrup

Place the toast into a toaster, meanwhile, scoop out the avocado and mash it. Once the toast is ready to slather on some ghee or butter, then top with the mashed avocado. Top with chilli flakes and sea salt and finish off by drizzling some honey and balsamic vinegar.

If you love Italian flavours, then you’ll get a kick out of this one. A bruschetta and avocado toast hybrid, getting the best of both in one shot.

2 slices of baguette bread
A hand full of fresh basil
A hand full of ripe cherry tomatoes
1 avocado
1 tbsp of olive oil
1 garlic
2 tbsp of balsamic vinegar
A pinch of cracked salt

Place the toast into the toaster and meanwhile mash the avocado and set it aside. Chop up your tomatoes, garlic and dried basil and add it to a bowl, mix them well and add in the olive oil, balsamic vinegar and cracked salt. Once the toast is made, scoop up the avocado mash onto the toast and then top with the bruschetta mix.

3982376Salted middle Eastern toast

You are finally saving the best for last, as of course I always have to find a way to add a middle eastern touch to my food. The magical ingredient here is tahini, which is a paste made out of sesame seeds. It provides so much nutritional value from healthy fats to calcium and is an excellent addition to any food. The mixture of tahini and avocado is beyond, and you will never understand unless you try it out for yourself.

1 avocado
2 slices of sourdough toast
Pinch of salt
Juice of half a lemon
1 ½ tbsp of organic tahini
Sesame seeds to garnish (optional)

Place the toast into a toaster, meanwhile, mash the avocado and the juice of half a lemon. Once done, add some tahini as the first layer, then top with the avocado mash. Drizzle on some extra tahini and pinch of salt and garnish with some sesame seeds.
