Arab and Beautiful – An interview with Muneera of Arabbella

Arab and Beautiful – An interview with Muneera of Arabbella

What made you start blogging?
Growing up, I’ve always had an eye for style and the right exposure to fashion. My parents always encouraged me to dress myself since I was little and took me to textile shops around Khobar. Through that I was encouraged to refine my artistic skills and later on chose Art & Design as my career path.

Around 2008, I started to notice how much my friends and family members trusted my fashion sense.

With the influence of fashion and beauty bloggers, I was sort of tipped into the direction of joining the gig, but since no one had done it in the area, I thought that I would definitely fail. I genuinely believed that – up until this one night where I couldn’t sleep, and kept thinking about what I wanted the most –  I obviously wanted to share my knowledge with a bigger audience.

I knew that the right clothes played a role in my life, and I knew for a fact, that I could help change other girls’ lives.

So, I decided to give it a go, I mean why not, right? I had nothing to lose, so I’ll try it out for 3 months, and if it takes off then that’s great, and if I fail, then it’s okay.

Arabbella was launched in 20012 and now, 4 years later… I’m here talking to you guys at Destination.

What is the best part about blogging?
Gaining the trust of complete strangers. A lot of girls would come up to me, asking for all sorts of fashion and beauty advice. Even my male followers ask for my advice about gifts.

My favorite part about blogging, is the fact that I’m sharing the knowledge I have accumulated over the years via trial and error, research or reading. It’s self fulfilling, and very rewarding.

What is the most challenging part?
Starting. Personally, I was really scared especially when I thought that something I posted might have been too personal, but now I set my own boundaries and say to myself, “If this is something I don’t want my grandkids to know about, I’m not sharing it”.

What motivates and inspires you?
As cheesy as this might sound, my followers do. They always send me messages suggesting topics. I’ve learned to listen to them and discuss the things they want to know more about.

Advice you would give for someone who wants to start a blog?
Always keep in mind that blogging is a responsibility. People may trust the things you put out there. When it comes to topics, write about the things that you personally would want to read about on the Internet.

Finally, and most importantly, be open to criticism. Listen to what others have to say; sometimes they give out some really good advice.
