Riyadh Season 2024 is about to echo with the sounds of thunderous slaps being delivered. An ultimate showdown of slap-fighting is coming next year.
Part of an expanded agreement with the Ultimate Fighting Championship, Riyadh Season will host the first-ever slap-a-thon in the Kingdom and it is as bizarre as it sounds.
The competition will feature athletes slapping each other as hard as they can to leave the other one unconscious.
The smack-tacular event is one of the many new events that UFC will host with Riyadh Season which will go beyond the confines of the octagon.
So grab your earplugs and rein in your curiosity. Here is a rundown of the striking event.
UFC Power Slap 2024
Fight Nights, when MMA fighters compete in an octagon, is the main event format of the American-born UFC. However, in recent years, the championship has introduced other events like the Power Slap. The slapping extravaganza features coin-tosses, three- to five-round matches and even weight classes. It is truly a bonkers event.

The spanks-heavy fight will take place on Thursday, January 30, 2025.

The slapstick marvel will take place at The Venue, one of the newest zones being introduced in the upcoming Season.

Headlining Power Slap 11 will be a rematch between slap fighting legends Da Crazy Hawaiian (15-1-1, 13 KOs) and No. 1 ranked Super Heavyweight, Dumpling (1-0-1, 1 KO). As the reigning Power Slap Super Heavyweight Champion, Da Crazy Hawaiian and Dumpling are looking to settle the score after their dramatic draw at POWER SLAP 9.
In the co-main event, Light Heavyweight Champion Wolverine (14-5, 5 KOs) is set to defend his belt for the third time against rising contender Vern “The Mechanic” Cathey (5-2, 4 KOs). Wolverine is undefeated at Light Heavyweight and Cathey possesses some of the most viral and powerful slaps in Power Slap history and is on a three-match win streak with knockouts against each.
UFC Power Slap rules and weight classes
Who will slap whom first is decided via coin toss. This is done because there have been knockouts in round one and going first is considered to be quite advantageous. There are three to five rounds and each athlete is allowed to hit with an open palm while the opponent has to stand still with their hands behind their back. No strike can go past the chin and using the power of your hips and legs is not allowed.
There are a total of five weight classes for men including welterweight, middleweight, light heavyweight, heavyweight and super heavyweight. Women have one weight class for now, the featherweight but there have been talks of adding more classes.

Dana White, CEO, and president of UFC, has signed a whopping 10-year contract with the Season to bring blood, guts and glory. In addition to the UFC Fight Night held in Riyadh, the partnership has extended beyond the Kingdom’s borders and gone to the entertainment capital of the world Las Vegas where Riyadh Season’s Noche UFC was projected on the iconic Sphere. The historic event was renamed to Riyadh Season Noche UFC and was the first-ever sports championship to be held at the largest spherical building in the world.
