Running has always been the Kingdom’s passion, and with awesome events like the Kingdom Duathlon and the AlUla Desert Blaze, it is not a surprise.
Now, the capital is preparing for the return of the Tuwaiq Trail Race.
Set to be held in November, the annual race has three distances for adult participants and a brand-new one for children aged four to sixteen.
The race will you take around the Tuwaiq escarpment and you will be treated to some spectacular views.
So, start your endurance training today because it is not a flat jog. Here is everything you need to know before the race.
Tuwaiq Trail Race 2024
First held in 2021, the race has become a staple of the Riyadh sports calendar. Often abbreviated as TTR, the event is separated into four categories and organized by Race Arabia. Each category has its own trail and is dotted with orange cones to ensure you do not veer off track.
What’s more, the top three finishers from each category get a hefty cheque.

While all the races will take place in the escarpment, each will have its own starting and finishing points. More information about the races will be released closer to the event, but these are the trails you’ll be following:

- Al Manjour Trail
- Al Wadi Trail

Tuwaiq Trail Race dates and times
TTR will commence on Saturday, November 16, from 5.15 am.

- Al Arid Ultra Trail- 6.45am
Tuwaiq Trail Race registration
Registration for the race has begun and you can put your name down via racearabia.sa starting from SAR75.
After your registration, you will be given a race bag with a race bibs, neck gaiters, and race t-shirts. At the end of the event you will be awarded with a digital certificate and a finisher medal to flaunt your status. You will also be given free photos and free personalized videos.
Tuwaiq Trail Race distances
Get ready to go the distance for TTR. The shortest length is the Tuwaiq Junior Adventure Trail which is one mile long while the Al Arid Ultra Trail is the longest at 50 kilometers.
Want some middle-ground? The Al Wadi trail is ten kilometers long and the Al Manjour Trail is 25 kilometers in length.
Don’t walk away to cool down just yet because there will also be an after-party.
