In an unprecedented display of skill and strategy, Team BDS has set their sights on a fourth consecutive victory in Riyadh, a city they now regard as their “lucky charm.” The Rainbow Six Siege team made history at the Esports World Cup, securing a remarkable triple triumph in front of a roaring crowd at the SEF Arena. This victory, which earned them a $750,000 top prize from the tournament’s $2 million prize pool, marks their third major win in the Saudi capital.
Their journey to success in Riyadh began in the summer of 2022, when Team BDS first claimed victory at the Gamers8 tournament held at Boulevard Riyadh City. They repeated this feat in 2023, solidifying their dominance in the competitive gaming scene. With Sunday’s win at the Esports World Cup, Team BDS has now amassed a staggering $1.9 million in prize money from their Riyadh victories alone.
However, for Team BDS, this impressive haul is just the beginning. The team, comprising three Frenchmen—Shaiiko, BriD, and LikEfac—alongside Turkish star Solotov and British MVP Yuzus, is already looking ahead to what they hope will be an unprecedented fourth victory in Riyadh.
“If we are able to perform the way we are and keep up this level of performance, then maybe we can make it back-to-back-to-back-to-back,” said Team BDS analyst Mees van der Arend, known to the esports world as Eaglemees. “Being the only one to be able to do this so far, it’s amazing. You can’t even put proper emotions to it.”
For LikEfac, real name Theo Mariano, Riyadh holds a special place in the hearts of Team BDS. “Riyadh is our lucky charm. We love the people here, we love the city, we love the food, we love everything,” he shared, reflecting the team’s deep connection to the city.
Solotov, whose real name is Fatih Turker, praised the organization and facilities of the Esports World Cup, calling it the best tournament in the world. “I think this is the best event so far. There are so many opportunities in the Player Lounges, for example—like you can play PlayStation and chill. Everything here is perfect. I think this is the best thing ever.”
As the world’s largest gaming and esports festival, Gamers8 continues to captivate audiences with its record-breaking $60 million prize pool. The event, which runs until August 25, features 22 tournaments across 21 titles, showcasing the best talent in the industry. The excitement continues with Week 6, beginning on Thursday, August 8, where three tournaments in Fortnite, Street Fighter 6, and Teamfight Tactics will keep fans on the edge of their seats.
With their eyes firmly set on another victory in Riyadh, Team BDS is determined to make gaming history once again, proving that their winning streak is far from over.
