Living in the United States for seven years, Lulwah Abaalkhail developed a passion for Pilates, leading her in 2022 to establish TAMO Pilates Studio, which has evolved into a safe space for holistic wellness in Jeddah. Interiors with a Special Touch

The interiors of the studios, which significantly contribute to their persona and image, draw inspiration from the luxurious Swiss spa centers. Lulwah aimed to create a serene Zen space, starting with careful material selection for the interiors, leading to the choice of the name TAMO. This name is derived from TAMO wood, known for its calming and grounding effects on the nervous system, influencing the overall design of the studio. Incorporating various types of wood throughout, the space is crafted to offer a safe and peaceful ambiance for both clients
and visitors.

The TAMO family takes great pride in its exceptional team. When choosing trainers for their facility, TAMO considers candidates from around the globe, which has led to a diverse team from Saudi Arabia and elsewhere. They conduct thorough interviews and training for each trainer, focusing on their passion for Pilates and its transformative benefits, in addition to their skills and qualifications. “We know a great fitness studio starts with its team,” said Lulwah.

Passionate about engaging with the community in many different ways, during holidays, they offer special promotions and complimentary classes for Eid and National Day celebrations. They also take pride in collaborating with associations focused on educating the public about the importance of fitness for physical and mental wellbeing. TAMO also participates in seminars and sets up booths across the city to encourage and educate the public about fitness.

Sharing Impactful Advice

When advising individuals on incorporating Pilates into their fitness routine, the founder emphasizes that Pilates is suitable for all fitness levels, from beginners to advanced. She explains that Pilates exercises can be done using one’s body weight and outlines what a typical Pilates session entails, stating, “A typical Pilates workout consists of various exercises and stretches. Each exercise focuses on proper breathing techniques and control of abdominal muscles. For optimal results, we suggest practicing Pilates at least two or three times per week.”
