Can’t seem to stay put in the real world and keep getting lost between the pages of your latest read? Well, good news. The Riyadh International Book Fair is set to return this year.
The annual event was reintroduced in 2004 after a 10 year hiatus and has been held every year since 2006. This year the fair is gearing up for the 29th edition to crack spines in September.
Created by the Ministry of culture, the fair is in line with Saudi Vision 2030.
The bookish celebration of all things books and has books in multiple languages including English and of course Arabic. It also has a dedicated children’s section to help the little ones develop an appreciation for the written word.

Riyadh International Book Fair
The book fair is an annual bookish affair that lasts almost two weeks and attracts nearly half a million visitors regularly. Publisher and sellers’ registration for the event ended in June of this year. Hundreds of national and international publishers sell multi-genre books that range from fiction like classics, romance, fantasy, thrillers, poetry, and more to non-fictional selections including self-help guides, autobiographies, history among others.
The fair is organized by the Literature, Publishing and Translating Commission.

The fair always has workshops, panels, seminars and talks by authors, journalists and more. There is also a dedicated kids’ section with age-appropriate books and activities.
This year, Qatar will be the guest of honor at the fair.
