As part of our seafood journey, we will head to different fruits de mer restaurants and give you a heads up on what to expect when you go there.
First on our list, Sayadiyah Express.
Sayadiyah Express is a great place for a lunch break and thankfully it’s next to our headquarters, yeah we went to the Al Khalediyah branch.
We were greeted and seated by the very pleasant staff. They were very efficient and fast in cleaning up the tables. Even though the floor tiles were a bit sticky, but we’ll let that slide.
Dishes: Excellent presentation; simplicity is key.
Fish Hara – SR 36
Hands down; GREAT! We were warned that this dish was fiery and man do they not kid. The spices mixed in with the tomato sauce can be deceiving cause you’d think it’s salsa, but it is not! This plate is the perfect for both your adventurous spice-seeking soul and your culinary fish loving spirit.

Kozi with Macaroni and Nuts – SR 42
Definitely order this dish; it is a full meal in itself. The succulent fish drenched in tomato sauce crowned on top of the well-cooked macaroni rings was perfecto! The only thing we could do without is the nuts. They were very tough and we kinda felt that they were out of place, but hey, we ain’t complainin’.

Calamari and Shrimp Tajin – SR 32 / SR 40
Although these usually come in separate plates, the people at Sayadiah were kind enough to put them together for us. Even though the shrimps and calamari felt a bit elastic as we bit into them, this platter was still scrumptious; maybe it was a tad unfair that it had such tough competition from the other dishes.

Fish Coriander – SR 35
The plate should be on an aromatherapy list somewhere; the beautiful scent exhuming as the fish sizzled on the plate is everything! We really liked this plate, with its strong coriander and garlic tanginess. If you like spinach, you will really like this dish too because it sometimes deviated into the spinach-tasting realm.

Shrimp and Calamari Basket – SR 40
Deep-fried in garlic, onion and spices along with a side of fries, this basket was A.okay and crunchy. It was a little bland without the mayonnaise though.

Fish Scalloped – SR 38
Fried fish fillet to golden perfection deserves our applause. The glazed coating hugged the white and tender fish and then hugged our taste palettes too. So if you want to go for a fried dish, go for this one.

At the end of our meal, they presented us with complimentary pink foam dessert that cleared our palette and gave us the sweet nudge we needed in the finale.
