Leading PR and Design Firm, Obai and Hill, launched the second edition of their ongoing initiative to engage with entrepreneurs, corporates, students and young women on the 13th of October at the Sofitel Bahrain Zallaq Thalassa Sea & Spa and successfully carried forward onto 14th of October. The event was hosted under the patronage of H.E. Aymen Almoayed, Minister of Youth and Sports Affairs.
The event aimed to showcase opportunities for investments, partnerships and collaborations created by inspirational female entrepreneurs and investors. Their vision is to connect and empower attendees by providing them with access to network and knowledge that can allow them to be innovative and succeed, by unleashing their power to create positive change. The theme of this year’s event which focused on Women in Entrepreneurship: Inspiring Action and Leading Change saw women leaders take centerstage complemented by supportive key male leaders as well.
Some of the key sessions from the Second Day of the event “Turning the Heads of Investors” that focused on transforming your business ideas, “Face it Like a Warrior!” which dealt with the journey and challenges of battling breast cancer and surviving it, “I am Differently Able” which recognized the tremendous efforts of Bahrain’s national para-athletes rise to success, “Women in Leadership” which was led by Dr. Alanoud AlSharekh who has had the honour of a knighthood bestowed upon her by the French Government (National Order of Merit) and many more rich discussions!
A workshop was held by WARSHA titled “Pledges for Equality” wherein 30 companies including Zain Bahrain, Standard Chartered Bank and several other key organisations pledged to hire more women, empower them in the workplace, ratify HR policies to be fair to both genders, bridge gaps etc. The day ended on a productive note with a Speed Networking Event led by Al Majlis.
Obai and Hill CEO and Founder of this initiative, Wafa AlObaidat shared “We are proud to have led this initiative to inspire, encourage and motivate attendees to plant more self-love and be ambitious to build a career they’re passionate about.”
Over 150 influential leaders shared their success, passion, creativity, and energy to around 2,000 delegates from across the region and internationally. The event included 53 learning sessions such as workshops, panels, talks, 10 shortlisted women in tech who pitched their business ideas and 50 mentoring sessions which created new opportunities for collaborations and partnerships.
This year the summit was supported by Gulf Air, Dessange Bahrain, JustClean, Ministry of Industry, Commerce and Tourism, Ministry of Youth and Sports Affairs, Elysian, APM Terminals, Bank ABC, Euro Motors Jaguar Land Rover Bahrain, BMMI Group, Arab Architects, Zain Bahrain and Kooheji Systems. The event was also supported by over 40 Goodie Bag Partners and 25 Media Partners locally and regionally!
