Friday Fright Night

Friday Fright Night
By Seyma Saricimen

We know a lot of our readers are into having a spooky get together to ride in the thrill.

To add to your list of horror filled ideas, we put together what we consider the ultimate spooksville terror kit.

Scary Movie:

Every fright night should include a great scary movie to jumpstart your friends’ fear meter. For this evening we opt for “Sleepy Hollow”, whether you have or haven’t watched it yet. Tim Burton + Johnny Depp = the best movie ever, ‘nuff said!

Sleepy Hollow

Local legend has it that a Hessian ghost rides through the woods on horseback, lopping off the heads of the unsuspecting and unbelieving.

Horror Night Game:

Everyyyyyy planned out horror night has to have a thrilling game. For a group with a good number of people Live Murder Mystery is a great game.

This game is a great alternative to a full on murder mystery evening. Sort through a deck of cards and remove the Ace, the Jack, the Joker, and some random number cards for the remaining guests. So if you had 8 people playing, you’d have the 3 picture cards plus 5 random number cards.

Shuffle the cards up and give one face down to each person. Whoever has the Ace is the murderer, whoever has the Jack is the detective, the Joker is the maniac who might or might not push you to your death, and the random numbers are innocent civilians.

Once everyone has their card, turn out the lights so it is completely dark. All players will then move quietly around the house on their own. Whoever is the murderer will lurk around and when they get someone on their own they will quietly whisper, “you’re dead.” The person who has been murdered must then lie down silently.

If another player discovers one of the bodies then they shout, “murder in the dark!”. Each session has only 1 murder. The lights are switched on and the remaining live players assemble around the discovered dead body, where the detective will then interrogate the suspects and try and figure out who the murderer was. They may strut around smoking a pipe if they wish, depending on the homeowner’s smoking policy. They will then get one chance to guess the murderer. This process will be repeated till there is one person left in the game and the murderer wins or till the civilians catch the murderer.

Fright Night treats:

Dracula Cookies
Make cookies of your choice, and cut each cookie into half. Sandwich them back together with jam, mini marshmellows for the teeth and almond flake for the fangs.

Hot Mummies
Bake/boil/fry sausages how you would normally do. Cut the sausages in half. On the side cut up spring roll wraps into thin ribbons.

Wrap each of the sausage pieces with the spring roll ribbon wraps. While wrapping, leave space for the eyes and place tiny chopped black olives for the eyes of the mummy.

Its not a scary enough night without bloody handprints all over your windows and mirrors right?!
