Film AlUla and Stampede Ventures Sign 10-Project Deal

In a recent partnership, Film AlUla, the Royal Commission for AlUla’s film agency, and global media company Stampede Ventures, led by founder and CEO Greg Silverman, have entered into a three-year agreement with a projected investment of USD 350 million in AlUla. This  deal was finalized at the Future Investment Initiative in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, and is a pivotal step towards realizing the goals of Vision 2030, focusing on economic diversification and cultural development.


The partnership involves Film AlUla offering rebates and incentives to encourage the growth of the film industry in AlUla. Stampede Ventures, under the leadership of Greg Silverman, known for his contributions to the entertainment industry, will bring ten productions to AlUla over the next three years. This initiative not only bolsters AlUla’s position as a regional creative hub but also pushes it towards becoming a global platform for filmmaking talent.

Greg Silverman’s extensive experience, which includes his role at Warner Brothers where he played a pivotal role in the success of numerous iconic films, brings in creative and commercial knowledge to the partnership. This collaboration is closely aligned with Vision 2030’s mission to bring about a vibrant film industry in the region.

Film AlUla, known for its inclusive approach to developing the local film industry, is committed to creating opportunities for emerging storytellers and filmmakers. The partnership with Stampede Ventures will further contribute to the growth of the film industry in the region, bringing it to the forefront of the global film scene.

Amr AlMadani, Chief Executive Officer of the Royal Commission for AlUla, emphasized the significance of this partnership, stating that it highlights Saudi Arabia’s potential as a film and creative hub. He also highlighted Film AlUla’s achievements in steadily building a film economy capable of hosting global productions, including the development of a state-of-the-art studio complex and the upskilling of Saudi talent in the film industry.

Greg Silverman, CEO of Stampede Ventures, expressed his enthusiasm for the collaboration, emphasizing the positive impact it would have on the local economy and people. He sees this partnership as an opportunity for cultural exchange and extended collaboration between U.S. and Saudi filmmakers, fostering a deeper understanding and the creation of exceptional art.

Film AlUla has played a major role in developing the film industry in Saudi Arabia since 2020. It has hosted many international productions, including movies and TV series, and is currently working on enhancing its on-ground infrastructure to further support the industry’s growth.

In addition to hosting productions, Film AlUla is expanding its production facilities, including a state-of-the-art production facility with soundstages, support buildings, and rehearsal spaces. The initiative also focuses on talent development, offering funding for budding filmmakers and skills training, fostering creativity and empowering future generations in film, the arts, and fashion.
