Your travels just got smoother.

2026 has just begun but Riyadh is showing none of that January chill, except when it comes to the weather.

The Kingdom’s capital city has been dominating the headlines with massive announcements like the world’s largest tier-IV government data center Hexagon Riyadh.

Now, the city has begun construction of the third runway for KSIA (King Salman International Airport), marking a major milestone in the airport’s expansion and airfield development.

First announced back in 2022, the new airport will feature three terminals and be a hub for Saudia along with Riyadh Air.

King Salman International Airport is gearing up to be one of the largest airports in the world, covering an incredible 57sqkm and featuring six runways alongside terminals named after King Khalid bin Abdulaziz Al Saud. Designed to be more than just massive, the airport blends sustainability with smart planning, complete with extensive support facilities and vibrant residential, leisure, and retail spaces. Inside, Saudi culture takes center stage, turning every journey into an experience that feels unmistakably rooted in the Kingdom.

The new runway is a major piece of the KSIA Master Plan, built to future proof the airport and keep pace with growing air traffic. Delivered in partnership with FCC Construcción SA and Al Mabani General Contractors, it has been carefully designed around Riyadh’s wind patterns to keep flights moving safely and smoothly at all times. Once in action, capacity will jump from 65 to 85 aircraft movements per hour, with the 4,200 meter runway and multiple taxiways helping aircraft flow more efficiently than ever.

Saudi aviation

Leaps of epic proportions are being made in the Saudi aviation department. Riyadh Air’s historic maiden flight took off on Sunday, October 26, 2025 and landed at Heathrow airport. Dammam International Airport sensory room has recently opened to make travel easier and more enjoyable for everyone.

Coming soon. Riyadh, ksia.com.
