Saudi travellers are planning to make 2026 their most personal year yet, with trips inspired by beauty routines, books, mountains, and meaningful connections. According to the Skyscanner New Travel Trends 2026 report, next year’s journeys will be all about individuality, discovery, and doing what feels good.
The report reveals that Saudi tourists are not only packing their bags, but also their passions. From skincare-fueled adventures to mountain escapes and literary getaways, travellers in the Kingdom are curating experiences that blend self-care, exploration, and social connection.
“As 2025 comes to a close, people are already exploring where to visit next year,” says Ayoub El Mamoun, Travel Expert at Skyscanner. “Our findings show travellers are shaping their holidays around the things they love most, whether that’s beauty shopping, reading, or quality family time. Travel in 2026 will be more personal than ever.”
Skyscanner new travel trends 2026: Beauty meets boarding pass

One of the standout findings in the Skyscanner New Travel Trends 2026 report is the rise of the “Glowmads.” Over half of Saudi adults (51%) have bought beauty or skincare products while abroad, and 41% plan to visit beauty stores or get treatments during their next trip. For many, beauty is becoming the reason to travel rather than a side activity.
Interestingly, 40% of respondents said they indulge in beauty-related experiences overseas because they’re cheaper than at home. So, don’t be surprised if you see Saudi travellers swapping souvenir shops for Sephora shelves in 2026.
Where the hotel is the holiday
Forget picking a hotel after choosing the destination. Next year, travellers are doing it the other way around. According to the report, 68% of people have already chosen a destination based solely on accommodation. These “Destination Check-ins” show how hotels are transforming into experiences themselves, offering immersive stays that define the entire trip.
With 63% of Saudi travellers saying accommodation prices are a major factor in their decision-making, it’s clear that value, comfort, and vibe matter as much as the view.
From supermarket safaris to mountain escapes

Travel in 2026 will also be deliciously down-to-earth. A surprising 83% of travellers say they always or often visit local supermarkets during their trips. Whether it’s discovering foreign snacks or sampling everyday ingredients, “Shelf Discovery” is redefining culinary tourism. Forty-three percent of Saudis even admit they actively seek out foods they can’t find back home.
Meanwhile, another big shift is happening at high altitudes. The “Altitude Shift” trend shows that 89% of Saudi travellers are considering mountain trips for summer or autumn, drawn by fresh air, stillness, and cooler weather. Over a third (35%) are even planning hiking adventures in 2026.
Love, books, and family Bonds

Travel is also becoming more emotional and connected. Under the “Catching Flights and Feelings” trend, 69% of Saudi travellers say they’re open to travelling abroad to meet new people, while 38% feel more confident interacting with strangers when travelling. It’s wanderlust with a side of connection.
Then there’s “Bookbound” travel, where 73% of respondents have considered booking trips inspired by literature or films. Reading time is precious too, with two-thirds (66%) saying they value quiet reading moments during their travels.
And for those seeking togetherness, “Family Miles” is on the rise. Thirty-eight percent plan to travel with multiple generations next year, continuing a trend where 26% have already travelled with parents and grandparents in the past two years.
“From beauty to bonding, travellers are turning their passions into plans,” says El Mamoun. “2026 will be the year people travel with purpose, shaping their trips around joy, curiosity, and connection.”
The Skyscanner New Travel Trends 2026 report paints a vivid picture of how Saudi travellers are evolving, from curious explorers to conscious curators of their own experiences. Whether it’s a skincare pilgrimage, a supermarket safari, or a family reunion in the mountains, one thing’s clear: travel in 2026 is going to be beautifully personal.
