Self-driving cars have officially hit the streets of Riyadh. Saudi Arabia just kicked off the pilot phase of its autonomous vehicle program, rolling out in seven areas around the capital with 13 pickup and drop-off points. It’s a major leap toward smart, AI-powered transport, and it’s not going solo.
The project is backed by heavyweights like the Ministry of Interior, SDAIA, the Geospatial Authority, and tech partners like AiDriver, WeRide, and Uber. With safety officers keeping a close eye on things over the next 12 months, Riyadh’s roads are getting a futuristic upgrade.
