Film lovers, this one is for you.
Academy Award-winning director Sean Baker at RSIFF 2025 has just been confirmed.
That’s right, the man behind heart-thumping movies Tangerine, The Florida Project, and most recently Anora, will be at the fifth edition of the Red Sea International Film Festival.
Not only that, but the American director will serve as the President of the Features jury.
The exciting announcement came via the official Instagram of the Red Sea Film Festival which has been dropping some massive announcements including Bollywood legend Rekha’s debut on the Saudi big screen.

Sean Baker, born February 26, 1971, is the indie filmmaker who never plays it safe. He writes, directs, edits, and produces stories that spotlight people living on the margins, and he does it with grit and heart. He kicked off his career with Four Letter Words in 2000, helped bring Greg the Bunny to life on TV, and has since delivered seven standout films, including Take Out, Prince of Broadway, Starlet, Tangerine, The Florida Project, Red Rocket, and his 2024 hit, Anora which won him his Oscar.

The Red Sea Features competition will celebrate every kind of cinema, from narrative gems to bold animation and powerful documentaries, spotlighting films from Asia and Africa including the Arab world. Sixteen standout features are in the running for the coveted Yusr Awards, with Sean Baker at RSIFF 2025 and an incredible jury leading the charge. This year, the Golden Yusr for Best Feature Film went to Red Path, directed by Lotfi Achour.

The festival is not only bringing in Sean Baker but will also welcome a special screening of The Voice of Hind Rajab. The all-things-film-celebrations will open with a screening of Giant on Thursday, December 4.
