Saudi public holidays 2025

Saudi Founding Day, Saturday, February 22

One of the newest public holidays to be added to the Saudi calendar, Saudi Founding Day is annually celebrated to commemorate the enthronement of Muhammad bin Saud as the emir of Diriyah 1727. It is one of the three non-religious holidays to be observed in the Kingdom and was introduced in 2022 on the 295th anniversary of the day by His Royal Highness King Salman bin Abdulaziz.

The day normally covers the city is a blanket of green and white as residents and visitors alike step out in their Saudi best and fireworks, drone shows, and special set menus take over the Kingdom.

Eid al Fitr, Sun March 30

After a month of Ramadan celebrations, Eid al Fitr takes over Saudi Arabia with its bright colors and delicious aromas. The Islamic festival is three days long and normally brings almost a week-long vacation and this year is poised to be no different.

Eid al Fitr marks the beginning of the month of Shawwal. Since the Islamic calendar is a lunar one, the dates and months of Ramadan and Eid Al Fitr change based on the phases of the moon.

The festival has everyone putting on brand-new clothes and exploring the their city’s Eid offerings which often involve fireworks, drone shows, set menus at your fave restaurants. Eid bazaars, and more. It is also one of the more colorful Saudi public holidays.

Eid al Adha, Thu, Jun 5- Mon, Jun 9

Another Islamic festival, Eid al Adha is celebrated during the religious odyssey of Hajj. It is celebrated during the last month of the Islamic calendar and honors the the willingness of Abraham to sacrifice his son as an act of obedience to God’s command. A symbolic sacrifice is made every year during Eid al Adha where a sheep, goat, or lamb is done during these Saudi public holidays.

Saudi National Day, Tue, Sep 23

No list about Saudi public holidays is complete without Saudi National Day. One of the oldest public holidays to be celebrated in the Kingdom, the day brings out people’s deep-rooted love of Saudi as they step out into a sea of white and green bearing flags, wearing their best traditional outfits, and partaking in cultural celebrations throughout the city.
