The newly opened space has taken over Riyadh’s social media with people flocking to the boulevard after iftar to burn off some of that energy.
The open-air space is the first phase of a planned larger boulevard and has running paths, cycling tracks, and even horse riding areas.
As if you needed another reason to go, one of the many districts of the Wadi Hanifah attraction will get lit up with the cheers and excitement of the first-ever Sand Dunes Sports Festival.
The family-friendly celebrations will be spread across two days and offer the epic chills and thrills of cycling and running events.

The weekend long event will kick things off on Friday, March 14 and cross the proverbial finish line on Saturday, March 15. The sporty celebration will start from 9pm on both nights.

Cycling- Friday, March 14
Calling all cycling fans! The festival will get the wheels rolling with an adrenaline-pumping cycling event. Riders 8 and up can take on courses ranging from a fun 7km ride to a challenging 31.4km stretch. Little cyclists aren’t left out—there’s a special 4km ride just for kids and youth! Whether you’re racing for glory or just here for the ride, it’s the perfect way for families to enjoy some friendly competition while soaking in the stunning desert-like views.
Running- Saturday, March 15
Lace up those running shoes because the festival keeps the excitement going on Saturday with an epic running event! Runners 8 and up can hit the sand with distances ranging from a breezy 4km to a tougher 13km challenge. And for the little speedsters, there’s a special 2km run just for kids! It’s the perfect way to stay active and have fun.
You don’t have to be a runner or cyclist to join the fun because spectator tickets are available, so everyone can soak up the festival vibes, With exciting games, delicious food stalls, and live entertainment, there’s something for all ages. Cheer on the racers, explore the park, and savor tasty local bites as the energy fills the air.
