If you haven’t heard of The Red Sea yet, you’re in for a treat. It’s one of Saudi Arabia’s most ambitious regenerative tourism destinations, promising world-class resorts, turquoise waters, and pristine coral reefs. Getting there just got a whole lot easier.
RSI Airport was announced as the crown jewel of this coastal escape back in 2019, with its first domestic flight landing in September 2023. Since then, it’s been steadily rolling out a phased activation, each step bringing more travellers closer to this slice of paradise.
RSI Airport location
Picture this: you’re about 90 km south of Al Wajh, smack on Saudi’s west coast, with the Red Sea sparkling nearby. RSI is so strategically placed that 250 million people are just a three-hour flight away, and a whopping 85% of the world can get there in under eight. Basically, the world is your boarding gate.

The airport is operated by daa International, the same folks who know how to keep global hubs running like clockwork. Domestic flights are now running through the sleek Main Terminal Building (Terminals 3 and 4), while international arrivals and even seaplane services still have their own cool spot at the Air Taxi Terminal.

Here’s where things get exciting. Domestic flights have officially moved to the main terminal, giving passengers a smoother, more elevated travel experience. International visitors and seaplane passengers continue to enjoy seamless connections through the Air Taxi Terminal.
And it’s only going up from here. By the end of this year, the state-of-the-art main terminal will be fully operational, gearing RSI up to welcome one million guests annually by 2030. With its design inspired by desert, oasis, and sea, every arrival and departure is set to feel more like part of the adventure than just a means to an end.
