The City of Play has been making headlines since the start of 2026 with announcements like the Six Flags Qiddiya opening along with confirming that Aquarabia Qiddiya is set to cut the proverbial ribbon soon.
Now, Riyadh to Qiddiya road network is going to be improved.
Your roadtrips are about to become so much easier because the Royal Commission of Riyadh City (RCRC) has a series of road and public transport expansion projects planned.
The exciting tidbit was revealed by the Managing Director of Qiddiya Investment Company (QIC), Abdullah Dawood during his appearance on the Fi Alsurah program “In the Picture”, according to the Saudi Gazette.
He confirmed that several infrastructure and connectivity projects will be undertaken to make accessing the cultural and entertainment destination easier.

So far, Qiddiya has inaugurated Six Flags and is set to open Aquarabia, but there is a lot more exhilaration headed to the city. In addition to the Mercedes-AMG Petronas experience, you can look forward to the world’s first-ever Dragon Ball-Z theme park. Get ready to go Super Saiyan!
Riyadh to Qiddiya road network improvements
Dawood has confirmed that the RCRC will be paving a fresh new road that will connect the Al Taif Road in Riyadh’s Laban directly to Qiddiya. The road will be also be widened, all in a bid to improve Riyadh to Qiddiya road connectivity.
Another road to be widened will be Irqah’s Prince Mishal Road. The routes will be connected via the Western Ring Road.
Another project involves the widening of the Jeddah Road by adding one more lane. The expansion is set to reduce traffic congestion significantly.
Dawood also confirmed that the Riyadh to Qiddiya road network improvement project has plans for the Second Southern Ring Road which will improve access for people moving from eastern and southern Riyadh.
Riyadh to Qiddiya public transportation network improvement

The slowly, but surely strengthening public transport network will also be included in the access plan. According to Dawood, regular buses from four different areas of Riyadh will be run. These include the southern and eastern parts of the city. The service is expected to begin in 2026.
Metro Line 7 will feature two tracks, one running through the upper Qiddiya City plateau and the other through the lower plateau. The line will pull out at Mohammed bin Salman Road before passing through Diriyah and continuing on to the city.
The Qiddiya High-Speed Rail Project will also improve accessibility to the city and its plateaus.
Riyadh connectivity

The Riyadh Metro has been dominating the news cycles. After announcing student tickets, the public transportation network revealed that park and ride for the metro is now free for the first 12 hours.
