The Saudi capital has seen unprecedented growth in the last five years including the public transportation network with Riyadh metro line 7 being announced.
2024 and 2025 alone brought brought major expansions like the ever-busy Riyadh Metro and the Ring Road Axes development program introduced by the Royal Commission of Riyadh City.
With cultural phenomena like the Saudi debut of Wicked the musical, Riyadh Season, Noor Riyadh, and more lighting up Riyadh, these expansions are a given.
Speaking of the public transportation system, Riyadh Metro line 7 will be introduced next year.
That’s right, the rainbow-colored veins of the city are getting a major facelift as a brand-new 65-kiometer line gets added to the network.
That’s not all, a vibrant food hub is set to join the new line.

Part of the larger King Abdulaziz Project for Riyadh Public transport, the current metro network has been serving the capital city with six lines, over 80 metro stations and bus routes, 2,860 bus stops, and 842 buses. The project aims to accommodate 1.2 million people per day via trains and 500,000 people via buses on a daily basis.

According to the Saudi Gazette, the new line will extend from the northwestern Diriyah district to Qiddiya in the southwest. MEED also reported that the 65 kilometer line will feature 19 stations with 14 underground and 5 above ground stops. The route will connect major hotspots including,

- King Salman Park
- Diriyah Gate
- Misk City
- New Murabba
- King Khalid International Airport
- King Abdullah International Gardens

While the official opening date of the new line has not been revealed yet, we do know that the addition will be implemented during 2026 Q1.
