Its raining… still in the Saudi capital and that is why Riyadh in-person classes suspension has been announced.
After multiple severe weather warnings, actual rain, and now a snowstorm warning, schools and universities in Riyadh will not be doing in-person classes on Thursday, December 18.
What’s more, Al Qassim schools will be following suit and do remote learning.
The suspension comes at the heels of the General Directorate of Civil Defense issuing a Thunderstorm safety precautions early Sunday, December 14 and suspending in-person classes in the capital on Monday, December 14 and across Saudi on Tuesday, November 15.
The online classes were announced based on reports by the National Center for Meteorology (NCM).

Education authorities have confirmed that all schools will shift to remote learning as a precaution to protect the safety of students and staff.
The decision follows warnings from the National Centre for Meteorology of widespread rain across the Kingdom through Thursday, with some areas facing strong winds, hail, rough seas, and a risk of flash floods. Other regions have also switched to remote classes as a precaution. Authorities are advising students, parents, and school staff to stay tuned to official weather updates and follow safety guidelines.

The decision applies to students, teachers, and administrative staff as classes shift online for the day.
Classes will be paused tomorrow across all schools in Al Qassim, as well as at several universities, including Majmaah University and Shaqra University.

The in-person classes suspension has been reinstituted for Thursday, December 18. This is the third time remote classes have been held in Saudi this week.

Additionally, a red alert has been declared and now held for Riyadh with severe weather expected. Conditions may include near zero visibility, hailstorms, thunderstorms, and a high risk of flash flooding.
