What’s more, The Museums Commission has announced the opening date of the space as well and it is less than a month away.

The Red Sea Museum is set to become a vibrant cultural heartbeat for the region, celebrating and preserving the Red Sea’s rich natural, tangible, and intangible heritage. Blending historic architecture with bold, modern design and immersive storytelling, it promises a world-class experience where history, innovation, and creativity come together in the most engaging way.
The museum is a powerful symbol of Saudi Arabia’s commitment to protecting its heritage while enhancing quality of life through culture, arts, and education. The museum is set to open at the recently restored Bab Al Bunt building, a regional landmark which once served as the gateway to Saudi Arabia.

What to expect from the Red Sea Museum 2025

Step inside the Red Sea Museum and explore over 1,000 artifacts and artworks spread across seven immersive themes and 23 galleries, from the story of the Bab Al-Bunt building itself to the wonders of marine life, sacred journeys, trade routes, navigation, and artistic inspirations drawn from the sea. Expect a captivating mix of historic treasures like porcelain, maps, manuscripts, and modern and contemporary works that bring the past and present into one beautifully flowing narrative.
Opening alongside the museum is the striking temporary exhibition The Gate of Gates by Saudi artist Moath Alofi, offering a powerful look at Bab Al-Bunt’s transformation as a cultural gateway. Plus, a buzzing lineup of workshops, talks, performances, and creative programs, from hands-on artisan training to a musical celebration of Red Sea heritage, makes this not just a museum visit, but a full cultural experience waiting to be discovered.
