Next stop, the city of play.
If you have been feeling a sense of excitement underlined by a soft dread for Qiddiya, then do not worry, you are not alone.
While the city of leisure, play, and sports is bringing world-class entertainment almost 30 minutes away from the Saudi capital’s city center, the traffic jams are already stressing people out.
To deal with the potential problem, Royal Commission of Riyadh City (RCRC) along with Qiddiya Investment Company, the National Centre for Privatisation, and PPP have opened bids for a Qiddiya high speed rail project.
What’s more, the project will be connected to the Riyadh public transport network, further reducing the possibility of you getting caught in traffic.
Qiddiya high speed rail project 2025

Qiddiya City is set to become Riyadh’s ultimate destination for fun, blending entertainment, sports, and culture in one exciting place. Nestled in the stunning Tuwaiq mountains, it promises a vibrant lifestyle filled with adventure, creativity, and community. As part of Saudi Vision 2030, it’s not just about having fun, it’s about boosting the economy, creating new opportunities, and putting Saudi Arabia on the global tourism map.
While you will not be able to use the Qiddiya high speed rail project for the first event to be held in the City of Play, the first-ever Extreme H, you will be able to use it for future events.

Qiddiya high speed rail project 2025 routes and connections

The project will also be known as Q-Express and is set to be a high-speed rail project designed to connect King Salman International Airport and Qiddiya City, with stops at key destinations like the King Abdullah Financial District.
Traveling at up to 250 kilometers an hour, it will take just 30 minutes to reach Qiddiya.
The first phase links Qiddiya to the airport and KAFD, while the second expands across Riyadh, reaching future landmarks like the North Pole development, New Murabba, and King Salman Park, making travel across the city faster and more connected than ever.
Getting around Riyadh

The Riyadh metro has been zipping around town in jam-packed cars running on colorful veins of the city. To make your journey more comfortable, the metro has released brand-new rules and fines. Uber has decided to roll out the female driver feature soon while self-driving cars in Saudi have entered the pilot test phase. The KAFD monorail is also coming to make your journey inside the financial district easier.
