Talk about high-rise living.
The Kingdom is no stranger to megaprojects. From the USD500 billion dollar city of the future, NEOM, to the ambitious regenerative tourism location the Red Sea, everything that Saudi does is big and bold.
Joining an already existing list of exciting developments in Saudi is the North Pole project.
First unveiled in 2023 by Mohammed Al Qahtani, CEO of Saudi Arabia Holding Co., the renders showcased an ultra-modern urban city of glass, cement, and greenery.
While the initial plans of the city within a city had already revealed Rise Tower, the centerpiece for the project, it had only been touted as being astonishingly tall with no official measurements having been announced.
Now, the North Pole project has revealed the tower’s official height.
Sitting at a whopping two kilometers, Rise Tower is set to be the world’s tallest building.
Get ready to crane your necks as you try to see past the cloud covers. Here is everything to know about the latest developments.
North Pole Project

The futuristic city is one of the many new projects that the Kingdom is working around the clock to bring to life. Part of Saudi’s drive to make Vision 2030 a reality, the North Pole development emphasizes connectivity and sustainability. The space is set to have pedestrian-first mentality, bike lanes, and depend majorly on renewable sources of energy.
North Pole Project location
Planned around Rise Tower, the project will set all gleaming and green just outside of North Riyadh.
North Pole Project opening dates
Information about the project is still forthcoming. Check back with Destination KSA to learn when they announce the opening dates.
North Pole Project amenities
Get ready to beat the traffic at as the development will offer air taxis, autonomous vehicles, high-speed underground transport and more. We did say that it was a futuristic city.
The renders have also shown residential, commercial, and industrial clusters that will be prioritizing easy access and offer almost seamless mobility through them.
North Pole Project Rise Tower

The appropriately named Rise Tower has been raising our expectations since it was first announced. The two-kilometer long project’s designs have not been made public, but we do know that it is meant to be a sleek and slim building.
The stylish skyscraper will not only be face of the city’s new business hub, will also be dwarfing the likes of Burj Khalifa (828 meters), Jeddah tower (1,000 meters), and other iconic vertical landmarks. Given that it is meant to be a USD5 billion project, we would expect nothing less.
Riyadh and megaprojects

Looking to experience a megaproject in the capital city that is already open? The first-phase of the Riyadh Sports Boulevard has opened. Solitaire Mall is the name and luxury is the game with Balenciaga’s largest flagship store being the prize. Never let anyone say that Riyadh is a city devoid color. The capital is preparing to welcome the Red Palace Hotel next year.
