A new version of the world-famous board game is coming, and it’s all about the Saudi capital. Monopoly Riyadh is officially in the works, so prepare to pass go and collection 200 Saudi riyals.
Earlier this week, KAFD along with other big projects in Riyadh, confirmed that Monopoly Riyadh is on the way.
While an exact launch date or location has not been announced just yet, the news has already sparked excitement across the city.
Whether you’re a long-time Monopoly player or just love anything to do with Riyadh, this upcoming edition is one to watch and experience.
What is Monopoly Riyadh?
If you’ve never played Monopoly before (or haven’t played in a while), here’s a quick refresher. Monopoly is a classic board game where players move around the board, buying properties, building houses and hotels, and collecting rent. The goal? To become the richest player while trying to bankrupt the other players.
The new edition will feature local landmarks, neighborhoods, and businesses, so instead of Park Place or Boardwalk, expect to see names you know from the city. Just like other editions, each property will have a price tag, and players can collect rent when others land on their spots.
Monopoly Riyadh development
The project is being led by KEAD Entertainment, the company with exclusive rights to develop special editions of Hasbro board games in Saudi Arabia.
The idea is to celebrate the culture, growth, and unique vibe of Riyadh through a game that’s loved across the world. Over one billion people have played Monopoly since it was first released in 1935, and this new edition gives locals and visitors a chance to experience Riyadh in a new, interactive way.
Why Monopoly Riyadh?
This isn’t the first time the capital has welcomed and popularized a Monopoly experience. Back in 2022, a life-size Monopoly experience had opened at Boulevard World during Riyadh Season. It was a hit with season-goers, offering a fun twist on the game we all know, allowing you to the your own game token.
That temporary attraction showed just how much people enjoy seeing their city turned into a playable game board. And now, Monopoly Riyadh is getting the full, official edition treatment.
What We Might See on the Board
If we look at other city editions for clues, we can expect the Riyadh board to reflect a mix of iconic locations, cultural sites, and popular destinations. Dubai’s edition, for example, included Sheikh Zayed Road, La Mer, and CityWalk. So it’s fair to imagine Monopoly in Riyadh will feature spots like Al Turaif District, Boulevard Riyadh City, Diriyah Gate, and maybe even KAFD itself.
Could local restaurants, shopping centers, or museums also land a spot? That’s part of the fun, seeing which places you know end up on the board.
