If your love for matcha goes beyond ordering a latte and snapping a photo of the cup, this one’s for you. Medd Café & Roastery is bringing a slice of Japan to Jeddah with a Matcha Tea Ceremony led by expert Miki Takamori. It’s a chance to learn how matcha is actually meant to be prepared, served, and enjoyed, straight from someone who grew up with it.
Who’s Leading the Matcha Tea Ceremony?

The Matcha Tea Ceremony will be hosted by Miki Takamori, who is originally from Uji, Kyoto, a region famous for producing some of Japan’s best matcha. She grew up with matcha as a daily family ritual, which eventually led her to launch her own brand to share authentic matcha worldwide.
Miki has been collaborating with Medd for more than eight years and visits Saudi Arabia yearly to introduce the Matcha Tea Ceremony and promote the culture behind it in a way that’s easy to understand and enjoy.
Why This Matcha Tea Ceremony Is Worth Attending
This isn’t a quick “whisk and sip” workshop. Guests will learn:
- The cultural roots behind the Matcha Tea Ceremony
- How matcha is traditionally prepared and served
- What makes authentic matcha different from modern café versions
You’ll taste matcha the original way and understand why the steps, tools, and pacing matter. If you’re a matcha fan or curious to explore the culture behind it, this is a relaxed and accessible way to do it.

What’s on in Jeddah?
Not a matcha person? No problem. Grab a cup of coffee (with chocolate on the side, of course). With Jeddah’s obsession with coffee and all things chocolate, the upcoming Coffee & Chocolate Expo is one you’ll want to visit.
