Following its successful debut in Jeddah in 2021, Kuuru, the Saudi-born Nikkei dining concept, has just celebrated its first anniversary in Riyadh.

What began as a fresh culinary idea in Jeddah has quickly evolved into a brand recognized for its cultural storytelling, theatrical open kitchen, and elevated yet casual dining atmosphere. Kuuru’s design draws inspiration from Japanese kanji, pre-Inca pictograms, and traditional textiles, creating an immersive space that pays homage to both heritage and innovation.
The Riyadh outpost features a striking omakase-style kitchen beneath a Japanese pergola, a bar celebrating the fusion of cultures through precision mixology, and artwork that symbolises the reunion of land, sea, and Nikkei heritage, crafted by a local artist and complemented by handmade Latin American pieces.
Further cementing its place at the forefront of Saudi Arabia’s dining scene, right before Kuuru’s first anniversary, it was honored with two major industry accolades: Homegrown F&B Brand of the Year 2025, celebrating its bold and authentic Nikkei concept.
As part of the restaurant’s ever-evolving culinary creativity, Kuuru also introduces a monthly feature, offering a special off-menu dish available for a limited time each month. May’s exclusive creation is the Yuzu Tiger Shrimp, served with Aji Amarillo, shiitake, and plantain chips, a vibrant dish that encapsulates the spirit of Nikkei fusion.
