The Khobar Hub, a member of the Global Shapers Community initiative of the World Economic Forum (WEF), successfully hosted, for the first time in Saudi Arabia, the annual regional gathering “SHAPE MENA 2025” from February 13–15, 2025.
Attended by 200 participants from 50+ countries, this extraordinary event reinforced the significance of collaboration for the implementation of youth-driven initiatives Under the theme “Shaping Youth Resilience: Navigating Transformations,” the event served as an opportunity for young leaders from around the world to address pressing global issues and regional challenges through meaningful dialogue and insightful discussions.

Skills Development, Innovation and Collaboration
The event provided a lineup of workshops and skills development sessions, designed to equip participants with valuable knowledge on relevant concerns in the MENA region and beyond. Through interactive discussions and expert-led talks, participants gained valuable insights that enhanced their personal and professional growth, empowering them to contribute more to their respective fields with utmost confidence and competence.

Aside from information-based discussions, SHAPE MENA 2025 also provided platforms for dialogue and idea exchange. Participants shared with one another creative solutions that could be customized for other countries experiencing similar challenges. These meetings encouraged cross-industry partnerships, and strengthened networks that extend beyond borders. More than just conversations, these interactions laid the foundation for friendships and future collaborations that will drive positive change.
Cultural exchange
Beyond learning, participants engaged in cultural exchange and explored Saudi Arabia’s rich heritage. During the opening ceremony, attendees were welcomed by a traditional Ardah performance which showcased Saudi’s vibrant talent and artistry. The cultural gala night dinner connected Shapers dressed in their traditional attire through sumptuous Saudi cuisine.
On the second day, immersive tours led them through the historic landmarks of Al-Ahsa, a UNESCO-listed site. Participants enjoyed their lunch in a traditional farm, after which they explored a heritage market. There were various activities as well such as Arabic calligraphy, handicrafts making, and henna tattoo. On the last day, the participants got to discover the architectural marvel of the iconic Ithra Center, where tradition and modernity intertwine. These experiences further deepened their understanding of the Kingdom’s cultural identity while fostering a sense of connection to its history.
