Can’t seem to stay away from the King Abdullah Financial District, but also really do not like driving there?
The Royal Commission for Riyadh City (RCRC) has heard your grumblings upon missing a turn and nearly being driven outside of the city, and has introduced the KAFD roadwork development programme.
The project will be spread over 20 kilometers and aims to improve the traffic flow in and around the financial district as well as overall connectivity.
First reported by the Saudi Gazette, the project is part of the wider Riyadh Ring Roads and Main Roads Development Program.
So no more missing your turn and having to fight through the entire city to get back to KAFD. Here is everything to know about the roadwork development programme.
KAFD roadwork development programme

KAFD is Riyadh’s buzzing, future-forward business hub, set in the Al-Aqiq neighbourhood and designed to mix work, lifestyle, and culture in one sleek destination. Managed by KAFD Development and Management Company under the Public Investment Fund, the district is a global standout, earning the title of the world’s largest LEED Platinum–certified mixed-use business centre. In short: it’s where finance, innovation, and sustainability come together in style.
KAFD roadwork development programme parameters

Spanning nearly 20 kilometres, the development project is all about making getting around Riyadh smoother and faster. By upgrading the roads around KAFD, the project is set to seriously boost traffic flow and strengthen connections across the capital.
At the heart of the KAFD roadwork development programme are major infrastructure upgrades, including three key intersections and 19 new bridges designed to ease congestion and improve access in and out of the district. Some serious engineering is involved too, with 227 structural columns, some soaring up to almost 30 metres supporting the build.
Once complete, the project is expected to cut travel times, increase average driving speeds, and reduce bottlenecks on major routes like the Northern Ring Road, Al-Takhassusi Road, and King Fahd Road, making daily commutes smoother and the city’s road network more connected than ever.
Riyadh road expansion

Introduced by The Royal Commission for Riyadh City (RCRC), the Riyadh Road expansion mega project is part of the Ring Road Axes development program. The additions will change the way you move around the city.
