Jeddah Bus Fleet

Jeddah launched a new bus fleet of public transport buses in April, bringing a more comfortable, efficient, and environmentally friendly option to the city’s streets. This new fleet includes electric buses, modern vehicles designed for safety and comfort, and expanded routes to cover more parts of Jeddah. What’s New in Jeddah’s Public Transport?

The Jeddah public transport system now boasts a network of 76 buses serving key residential areas. These bus fleets run along 14 main routes, with 91 strategically placed stops, covering major neighborhoods. This expanded coverage ensures that people can easily access public transport across the city.

One of the coolest features of this new system of the bus fleets, is the fully air-conditioned bus stops, making waiting for a ride much more comfortable, especially in Jeddah’s hot climate. You’ll also find charging ports at the stops, so you can power up your devices while waiting for your bus. Plus, getting a ticket is simple and tech-friendly—just use the Jeddah Buses app or pay with a bank card when you get on the bus.

Key Routes

The new public transport system covers major roads such as King Fahd Road, Prince Miteb Street, and Old Makkah Road, with additional coverage of the Industrial City. All bus routes are connected to the main transport hub at Al-Balad Station, providing easy access to other modes of transport in the city. Whether you’re heading to work, a shopping mall, or just exploring the city, these buses offer a convenient and comfortable ride.

The new bus fleet is an extension of this transitional service and represents a significant upgrade in the quality of public transport in Jeddah, with plans for even more development in the near future.

The Future of Public Transport in Jeddah

The launch of the new bus fleets is part of a larger plan to create a comprehensive and sustainable public transport network in Jeddah. The city will soon see metro lines, light rails, and even a tram system along the Corniche. The plan also includes dedicated bus rapid transit (BRT) lanes and a water bus network along the coast, all designed to reduce traffic congestion and make the city’s transport system more environmentally friendly.

Jeddah’s new public transport system is designed to serve both current and future needs, with the goal of improving quality of life and contributing to a sustainable future.
