As if the excitement had not already reached a fever pitch, the Saudi Ministry of Education has now announced a long weekend.
That’s right, a city-wide Jeddah school holiday will be taking place during the Grand Prix weekend.

The Kingdom first welcomed the biggest names in Formula One in 2020. Since the inaugural race, the thrilling weekend has come back every year.
Home to the fastest street circuit in the world, the track has seen some major chaos as it hosted the F1 debut of former Ferrari reserve driver Ollie Bearman in 2024.
While almost always the second race on the calendar, this year Saudi Arabia will be hosting the fourth race of a season that has already caused some hefty shakeups with the largest number of rookies debuting in recent years. Not to mention McLaren’s Lando Norris ended four-time-WDC Max Verstappen’s streak of having led the championship since 2022

The holiday will be observed across the Red Sea city as all students and teaching staff are given a day off. What’s more, Makkah and Taif will also be getting a long weekend for the Grand Prix.

One of the newest race weekends to be added to the Formula 1 calendar, the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix has always been one of the more dramatic races of the season. In 2021, the Grand Prix served as one of the last wins for Lewis Hamilton and the pod-concept Mercedes.
Not only will you be able to see Carlos Sainz’ Williams and George Russell’s Mercedes speed through the DRS zones, the much lauded F1 Academy will also be coming to the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix weekend.
